Great venue; coordinator matters
We chose Sage for our early fall wedding as it provided good pricing for what was included, while letting us customize just enough to create a classy event. We had 40 guests and a very simple ceremony and reception with few logistics and only one vendor to manage (decorator; Thistlebea). The food was the best part and is truly top notch. The location, although far for some guests. is fantastic for photos, with no shortage of options nearby for any kind of couple. I would recommend the venue due to the final outcome that we achieved.
- Food: We received numerous compliments on the food; we went with a tier 1 buffet. The chimichurri brisket was practically melt in your mouth, while the miso steelhead was similarly cooked to perfection. The dessert array was perfect for our needs and nobody missed the wedding cake we didn't have. Despite it being a buffet, the chef was also able to make a special accommodation for one VIP guest which was greatly appreciated and enjoyed.
- Execution: We had to change to an indoor rain plan, which worked very well in the end and saved us money from renting tents for the patio. The "aisle" in the ideas lounge was a bit awkward compared to the original patio plan but it suited our needs. There was, however, a timing issue with passed sparkling wine after the ceremony which came late and some guests missed it.
Overall very good execution of the reception; our banquet captain was helpful and kept on top of things. They were lucky we didn't have speeches as we were told on the day-of that the microphone in our reception room was broken/not working.
- Service/coordination: Mixed. Our initial interactions were very positive and we were very impressed by the "wedding experience" event. However, our coordinator (initials KTA) was not very organized and required some chasing/managing to get to our desired outcome, despite having a very simple program. For other couples who might have multiple vendors or a more complex program (we did not have a DJ or dancing, no speeches, and minimal decor), I would suggest having a coordinator or planner manage the process with Sage.
- Small note for couples: you can get a discounted rate for parking for your guests by paying in advance through UBC Parking! This was not mentioned anywhere in the materials from the venue and I had to find it myself. -

The food provided at our wedding was varied yet classic and delicious. The staff members were incredibly helpful and were fantastic to our guests. Our guests complimented us on how nice the staff was and how easy they were to work with, as well as complimentary of the food. Would recommend. -

Colin was fantastic to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day of the event. We got many compliments on the food (we chose the hors d’oeuvres and buffet options) and an open bar with champagne. The courtyard was a beautiful setting for the ceremony, and felt very secluded and private. Highly recommended for smaller weddings such as ours, which had 35 guests! -

Sage's service was beyond amazing. Colin, their coordinator for our wedding planning and day, was SO kind, and helpful. He was always there for us when we had doubts, questions, and he always had a quick solution in mind! We had our ceremony and reception at Sage, and both things were simply perfect. Guests were so comfortable and had so many good comments about the wedding that I was amazed. Food was super good! The drinks were great as well. They had a variety of selections that made it easy for us to decide based on what we really wanted. It was simply, special. If you are thinking on hiring Sage, you just have to! -
