Oakham House, a Gothic Revival heritage building constructed in1848 by architect William Thomas, stands in the heart of Toronto’s Garden District. Originally built as Thomas’s private residence, it remains one of the city’s notable historic landmarks.

Having witnessed generations of uses, Oakham House has begun a new chapter, one where every wedding helps build brighter futures. Operated by the Oakham Foundation, a registered charity that has spent decades creating opportunities for Toronto Metropolitan University students, your event supports our mission to provide stable student employment, affordable and healthy food, a platform for advocacy, flexible space for student needs and a connection to community.

In 2026, we asked a simple question: what if one of Toronto's most beautiful historic buildings could also become one of its most affordable wedding venues? The answer became "Heart of the Garden District".

Inspired by the trends of Dark Academia, Gothic Revival, and immersive experiences, we’ve partnered with an expert on botanicals to transform our historic property into a living experience. Lush plants, dramatic architecture, hidden corners, oddities from local collectors, and timeless character create a venue unlike any other in the city.

Choose between two distinct celebrations:

The House & Yard – A private two-storey Gothic mansion where every room invites discovery. Rich architecture, intimate gathering spaces, and quirky historic charm make it feel as though you've stepped into another era.

We have combined our rentable spaces, Thomas Lounge, Oakham Lounge and The Patio, for this package. They can also be rented out separately for more intimate occasions. If you choose this grouping package, they cannot be rented out to others on your special day.

The Garden Gallery – A vibrant indoor garden and courtyard experience where lush greenery, natural light, and an expansive dining hall blur the line between city and sanctuary. It's an urban oasis designed for celebrations in every season. Have cocktails in a garden market environment and dine in a warm and quirky Hall attached.

We have combined our rentable spaces Courtyard Lounge and Tecumseh Hall for this package. However, these are always combined for all Tecumseh Hall events as they are open to each other.
