Terrible communication leading up to the wedding.

My review is very mixed but mostly full of disappointment. Although the day of our wedding at the Fernie Alpine Resort was beautiful and the venue itself is gorgeous, that is basically one of the very few positive outcomes we had with selecting the Fernie Alpine Resort as our venue to get married at.

Communication leading up to the wedding day was absolutely horrible. We began speaking with the Resort Coordinator almost two years prior to our wedding date. We drove 8 hours to tour what little they were able to show us of the resort. After selecting them as our vendors, agreeing upon costs, and signing a contract is when the communication became challenging. To begin, the Resort Coordinator, I’ll refer to her as S, had very limited knowledge about vendors outside of the venue such as florists, photographers, or bakeries that we could utilize and although she provided us a few options, majority of those vendors were no longer in business. As months went on, S, became extremely hard to get a hold of which made it nearly impossible to get any of our questions answered. It would take nearly 2-3 weeks to get a response, in which many incorrect answers were provided to us by her. For example, S gave us a date that our guests were able to begin booking their rooms at Lizard Creek. When our guests called on that day, they were declined and were told that the rooms were all full, which left many of our guests in a panic. After multiple attempts to get a hold of S, she half apologized and gave us a new date that our guests could call to try and book their rooms again. From this point on, guests were told different prices for the same rooms. S did not take accountability for giving us the incorrect check in date. Being provided incorrect answers from S unfortunately became the norm, regardless of how many emails, phone calls, and zoom meetings that we had. Only a few weeks prior to our wedding day, S sent over our remaining invoice and we noticed that the cost of our meal selected had increased significantly in comparison to the cost that we agreed upon when we signed the contract. Which is completely unacceptable. Of course, we couldn’t get a hold of S after receiving the invoice and it got to the point where we had to get in contact with multiple managers. All the miscommunication and disappointment on the resorts behalf led us to hiring a wedding planner, A. A took charge on the day of our wedding and ensured things were set up correctly. Although S was in the building on the day of our wedding, she made no attempts to speak to myself or my husband. Not once did she give a sincere apology for all of her wrongly answered questions or lack of communication. Also, for those wedding parties who do enjoy having a later night/having some beverages, beware that check out the next morning is 10:00am…. To end this review on a positive note, the food was amazing.

Food is fantastic communication terrible

The wedding day itself was amazing, leading up to it was very stressful. My review is identical to the one below. Price increase (from 50 to 65 PER PERSON) for food, zero communication and incorrect information given.
I had more help from the marriage commissioner than the lodge wedding coordinator the day of the wedding.
The food was amazing! The restaurant manager (Darrien), bar and kitchen staff were incredible which made it go from a terrible review to a good one.

Lizard Creek Lodge turned out to be an amazing venue for our wedding. We wanted to have a wedding that would facilitate a weekend with family and friends and that's exactly what we got. We chose not to have our outdoor ceremony at Lizard Creek, however they still kept the option open for us to have an indoor ceremony if the weather was miserable (they kept this option open up until 11am the day of). The Event Coordinator was very helpful and thorough in ensuring the reception was set-up the way we wanted it. Bar and food service was great. Our wedding was around 95 people and I would suggest not going much more than that. It was an intimate reception and more than one guest commented on how great everything was. Plus we were able to spend time with people the days before and after the wedding as many people made a weekend holiday out of it.

We had our wedding October 5, 2013 at Lizard Creek Lodge, in all honesty it was everything we imagined and more!!

Stacey was such a great help in combination with our wedding planner to ensure the night we hiccup free. They lodge itself is beautiful, rooms were fantastic. We had 135 guests and all stayed at the lodge, we are a month later and everyone is still talking about how amazing the lodge was. Many have already booked vacations over the winter there. The great room really doesn't need much in terms of decorations, as it is already tastefully done and hard to compete with the mountain view.

The food and beverage team was fantastic as well. Supper was amazing, i was mad with myself the next day for not getting a second serving. Food was excellent. Drinks were poured in an efficient manner and there was an abundance to be had.

I can honestly say that without the team they have a lizard creek we wouldn't have had a perfect weekend. If your on the fence, jump off and book your event at lizard creek lodge.

They say that the venue is suitable for up to 150 people, but that would be an extremely tight squeeze, as we had 120 fit QUITE cozily. Otherwise, everything else was absolutely lovely.
