We Were Ready to Pay the Deposit—Until We Dealt with Peter
This is my first negative Google review. We visited seven wedding venues, and Peter was by far the least professional coordinator we encountered. His emails were often rude, incomplete, and slow to arrive. He frequently answered only one of several questions we asked, leaving us waiting days for simple clarifications.
Our main issue involved the wedding package. We asked if the $199/person package could be customized, and Peter said yes, offering a $159/person package with a 5-hour bar, no pizza, and a three-course meal. We agreed and moved forward.
Then he suddenly told us that this package also meant 1:00 PM venue access and a 10:00 PM event end time, unless we paid an extra $500. We accepted that compromise. Before paying the deposit, we asked one simple question: "Besides what we've already discussed, what else is different between the $159 and $199 packages?"
His response was: "They're completely different packages and can't be compared."
That made no sense. If it's a completely different package, why weren't we ever given a description of what it actually includes? If package changes were never really an option, he could have simply said so from the beginning instead of wasting a week of back-and-forth emails.
We left feeling frustrated and disappointed. The venue is gorgeous, but the customer service was unacceptable. Also, being asked to pay a deposit before even seeing the contract is something I have never encountered before. Before booking, I recommend reading the reviews on Edgewater and WeddingWire—it's clear that many other couples have had similar experiences with Peter.
