No more boring wedding films.

I've seen a lot of wedding films. Too many wedding films.

I've been filming weddings since 2017, and the idea behind Fade to White Films is pretty simple: your wedding film should obviously mean the most to you, but you shouldn't have to be the couple getting married to enjoy watching it.

There's a version of the wedding film we've all seen. It opens with the venue, works its way through the day in order, hits all the expected moments and finishes exactly where you expect it to. It can look beautiful, but sometimes you get to the end without feeling like you really know anything about the two people you just watched. Swap the couple out and, fundamentally, it's still the same film.

That doesn't mean I think weddings are boring. Quite the opposite.

Weddings give me something I rarely find anywhere else behind a camera. People are unusually open. They talk about love, friendship, family, loss and the future. Parents try not to cry. Friends tell stories they probably shouldn't. People laugh at the wrong time. And while the couple is in the middle of all of it, dozens of little moments are happening around them that they may never actually see.

Those are the things I'm looking for.

I love making beautiful images, but I don't want your wedding to turn into an all-day video shoot. I'm not particularly comfortable being in front of a camera myself, so I understand when couples tell me they aren't either. During portraits I'll give you enough direction to get things moving, keep it loose and hopefully make you laugh a little. Outside of those moments, we're much more interested in observing than directing.

For most of the day, our job is simply to pay attention.

Getting married myself made me appreciate all of this even more. After months of planning, our wedding suddenly happened—and then, somehow, it was over. Almost immediately there were details I couldn't completely remember, moments my wife and I hadn't seen at all, and parts of the day that already felt strangely distant.

We've probably said to each other about 97 times since then how happy we are that we hired a wedding videographer.

Knowing we'll eventually be able to experience the day from another perspective, hear those voices again and have something we can one day share with our family reinforced why I think these films matter so much. You put an unbelievable amount of time, money and emotion into bringing your favourite people together in one place. Having a way to actually return to that is pretty special.

Every Fade to White Films collection includes two filmmakers. It lets us be in more than one place, capture different perspectives and pay attention to what's happening around you without constantly pulling you away from your guests or asking you to repeat moments for the camera.

I've also deliberately built the collections so that the starting package still feels complete. I don't want you choosing one collection and feeling like the moments you'll care about in twenty years are being held back unless you spend more money. The upgrades give us more room to tell and preserve your story—they don't make the basic experience whole.

I take on a maximum of ten weddings each year. I want every one of them to remain something I'm genuinely excited to show up for, think about and edit, not simply another date on a calendar I need to get through.

If you want something beautiful, emotional, occasionally funny and unmistakably about your people, your place and your day, we'll probably get along pretty well.
