Music was key to setting the tone for our wedding day - we were looking for smooth jazz and lounge vibes, and Lauren and her team absolutely delivered! Lauren was so amazing to work with throughout the process, taking the time to get to know us and being just as enthusiastic about our vision as we were. There is a lot of passion and expertise in what Boutique Entertainment does, and it shows! Lauren and her team were also there to open the doors for me when I arrived in my big dress and checked in with me throughout the reception. I cannot say enough good things about Boutique Entertainment, and we continue to get compliments months after our wedding - even from the music snobs in our family. I highly, highly recommend this team! -

My husband and I cannot express how amazing Lauren and the rest of Southbound Soul (William, Justin, Jonathan, and Stefan) was for our wedding in Sept 2022. We had done quite a bit of research looking for live entertainment for our special day and when we came across Lauren we knew she was our top pick. Her insane talent and energy and her selection and style of music was exactly what we pictured for our wedding day. Lauren was really incredible to work with. She was able to create a package for us to meet all of our needs for our day and for our venue, was very responsive the entire time, and was so professional and confident. Her confidence that she would make our entertainment dreams come true and the trust that that instilled in us was something that meant a lot, especially during the more stressful time in the weeks leading up to the wedding. During our last meeting before our big day, she did such an amazing going through all of the details, making plans to accommodate special performances from my husband and a guest, and making us feel relaxed that no matter what we could leave music in her hands. And while this is all great, the fact that she is so kind, and caring, and so much fun is just the cherry on top of it all.
On the day of our wedding she managed our ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and first dance music, and then put on an INSANE performance all night long with the band. The entire day it felt so good knowing that everything related to our music was in hands that we trusted and it went flawlessly.

Lauren was so lovely to work with from the very beginning. She was very responsive and organized in helping us plan our Celebration of Love Party. Lauren and Will have such a cool sound and vibe and kept the energy up and the party going. Thank you so much SteelRiver Duo! Lauren Roy truly made our wedding day perfect.
She was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, and extremely flexible and understanding with our constant changes and adjustments as a result of COVID. Along with an acoustic guitarist, she lit up the room at our ceremony, nailing the slow, acoustic versions of some of our more up-beat favourites ("Best Friend" by Queen, "Home" by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeroes, "Believer" by The Monkeys) and putting a tremendous amount of heart and soul into some of the traditional wedding classics ("Moon River," "Can't Help Falling in Love With You"). I was originally concerned that the single guitarist and singer wouldn't be enough to keep the energy high at our intimate backyard reception, but Lauren assured me she and her guitarist alone could "bring the party," and they absolutely delivered. We couldn't believe how big of a sound they pulled off with just the two musicians; it felt like we had hired a 5 or 6 piece band (without bothering the neighbours). After the wedding many of our guests expressed how much they enjoyed the music, and some even asked for her information to hire her themselves. Lauren took so much of the stress off of us during the planning process, and made our wedding day unforgettable. I could not recommend her highly enough. -

Not a Wedding, but a great source of joy during Covid
Over the past year, Covid restrictions have impacted many of the things we had always taken for granted. Not the least of these are dining out, visiting with close friends and live music. The sense of loss of these things feels even more acute at traditional times of gathering – like Christmas.
People have come up with some innovative ways create substitutes for these simple pleasures, and at Christmas this year, Lauren Roy helped put some magic into the Christmas season for a group of 14 friends who first met while studying at McMaster in 1982.
We always gather a few times each year and invariably, one of those occasions is Christmas. This year, gathering for a meal was replaced by a Zoom call. And to bring a bit more holiday spirit to the Zoom call, I arranged for a mini-concert of Christmas songs from Lauren Roy and her guitarist, William Mukuna. Lauren had the great idea of gathering the titles of attendees favorite Christmas related songs and took the time to learn them and give a shout out each time she played someone’s favorite.
In a year when we lost so much human contact, Lauren’s talent and warm style made us feel like we were in the same room and made us forget the distance that has unceasingly separated us this year. Thanks again Lauren.
