I hired Alyson for my wedding at the end of June 2025. Communication with her was always quick and easy, and I loved the makeup, it looked great all day even through how hot it was that day. My hair on the other hand was a huge problem.
We had some difficulties with my hair during the trial in March. The curls were falling out after an hour of me getting home, I told her afterwards, and she said she would adjust things for the wedding but also blamed the dry winter air and static.

The curls started falling out during my wedding before I even got to the venue (Hair was finished around 11am, I got to the venue at 1pm). I had to get one of my friends attending the wedding to bring her hair tools to the venue to re-curl some of my hair before the ceremony (at 4:30pm) because my hair was wavy at best, almost no curls remained.
When I spoke to Alyson afterwards, she had blamed the heat and humidity and my hair being a fine texture. Which I understand, but the curls started falling out before I even got into the heat and humidity (I was in an AC’d AirBNB and then an AC’d bus on the way to the venue). And I know from experience with my own hair in heat and humidity at other events that I don’t usually have that problem.
Aside from the curls falling out, during the trial and my wedding day, I showed Alyson photos of what I wanted and both times she struggled to create a style that I felt was on par with what I showed her. There were weird bumps where my hair should have been flat against my head, and she struggled with having the half-up style that I wanted to blend with the down portion of my hair (The style looked more like it was just sitting on top of the portion that was down and wasn’t soft or blended at all). She eventually got my hair to something that I thought looked really nice, but it was overwhelming and stressful before we got there.
Also, when we got back to the AirBNB at the end of the night of my wedding I had to spend 30 minutes on the floor scraping up and cleaning up lipstick and other makeup that one of the MUAs had dropped and stepped on and smooshed all over the floor, and there was lipstick and foundation stains on the kitchen countertop. Not a great way to end the night.

Another thing to note is that there were some comments made by Alyson both on the day of my wedding and afterwards when I emailed her about my disappointment in her services that weren’t appreciated and I honestly felt were unnecessary to make.
All in all, should have went with my gut after the trial and went with someone else but I chose to stick with Alyson because she assured me that my wedding day would go better. And it didn’t, except for the makeup. -

An amazing hair and makeup team!
Alyson and the Emerald Beauty team were absolutely amazing to work with! Alyson stuck with us through two years of postponements for our wedding in 2022, which was really appreciated. The Emerald Beauty team did such a great job and everyone was so friendly and fun! A really nice thing to have was the touch up kit that was given to all of the girls to use throughout the day. I really loved my hair and makeup on my wedding day and I highly recommend Emerald Beauty! -

Great hair and makeup service from Emerald Beauty for myself and my bridesmaids. They were punctual and super friendly. I had one trial with them which was very helpful. Quality of service was excellent.
