We took lessons at Access Ballroom for the first dance of our wedding. It was an amazing experience. It was completely personalized. Access Ballroom allowed us to go from clueless beginners to being very proud of our first dance routine!

Gil has been so patient with us, teaching us the basics and somehow turning our very beginner moves into an actual wedding dance routine! Every lesson has been fun and encouraging, and we’ve gone from wondering how we were ever going to pull this off to actually feeling excited and confident to dance in front of all our family and friends.

We came to Access Ballroom hoping to feel a little less awkward during our first dance, and somehow we’re leaving with a full Cha Cha wedding routine!

I had little to no dance experience before starting, so the idea of learning an actual choreographed routine felt pretty intimidating. Gil has been an amazing instructor throughout the entire process. He’s patient, encouraging, and really good at explaining movements in a way that makes sense to someone who has never danced before.

What we especially appreciated was that the choreography never felt like it was being forced on us. Gil worked with our abilities and gradually built up the routine as we became more comfortable and confident.

Wedding planning can be stressful, but our dance lessons have actually become one of the parts we look forward to. We still can’t believe we’re going to be performing a full routine at our wedding!

Gil has been wonderful helping my fiancé and I prepare for our first dance, and has been very accommodating while scheduling and rescheduling our lessons!

We wanted to take dance lessons to wow our guests during our first dance so we decided to go with Access Ballroom. Gil asked us what we were envisioning for our first dance and ended up helping us make it come to life. We wanted to do a mix of a slower dance to a faster one, so based on the music we selected, we ended up learning the Viennese Waltz and Swing.

With Gil's patience, talent, and constructive criticism, he was able to teach us how to perform these 2 dances by demonstration, with use of props, and clips of ourselves to refer to, when we practiced in between sessions. The studio is available for you to practice in between sessions and we were sure to use it. Both Anna and Gil were very welcoming and encouraging during our journey. Thank you!!

I really enjoyed working with Access Ballroom to create the perfect first dance for my wedding. Together, we crafted two unique dances in the Viennese Waltz and Swing styles that reflected both my partner's and my personalities. Gil is a fantastic teacher; he focuses on where you need to practice most and drills you on those moves until you get them right. Sometimes this took almost the whole class, but it was necessary because once you get the moves, you can move much faster in subsequent classes.
I loved how open Gil is to incorporating our ideas and how he isn’t afraid to work with your crazy suggestions and make them work. We are beginners, but with Gil we were able to incorporate 5 lifts and a drop into our routine without any issues. I think this was quite impressive to accomplish in 15 sessions. He made sure we didn’t hurt ourselves by spotting us and providing a mat in case someone fell. He made sure the safety guards were in place and removed them when he saw that we had learned what we needed to do.
Gil also made it easy to create our dance. We gave him both our songs; he observed our capabilities in the first couple of classes, chose a tempo that matched our learning curve, and professionally mixed the song to the length we both agreed was appropriate for us. Gil also challenged us as we progressed, adjusting the difficulty of the moves to ensure we learned as much as possible as quickly as possible.
The studio is in a great location and open late, so we never had trouble booking a class that fit our schedule. Because it is open all the time, it is also easy to pop in and practise. When there is no class, you can use their sound equipment to practice your song. If there is a class, just bring a pair of wireless buds and give one bud to your partner. The studio is large enough that, even if there is a class, there is always open floor space where a couple can practice.
Access Ballroom has another instructor besides Gil. Although Anna wasn’t our instructor, she seemed very knowledgeable and offered a few pointers when we were practising on our own. She didn’t have to do that, but it’s clear she cares about the students at Access Ballroom, even if she isn't teaching them directly.
Overall, I highly recommend Access Ballroom if you're looking to create the perfect first dance for your wedding. The instructors will listen to you and work with you to create a routine that fits your exact preferences. They are professional instructors with a keen eye for spotting what you need to get you from where you are to where you need to be.

Gil and Anna are so nice and professional. It’s really nice learning with them because they love what they’re doing! Gil was our instructor, very knowledgeable and doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable for not knowing anything about dancing. The classes have become a date night for us as a bonus! My fiance and I were both reluctant to try dance classes and only wish we came sooner!! Definitely recommend Access Ballroom and will be returning ourselves for group classes after the wedding!

I found Access Ballroom at the Toronto Bridal show and told my fiancé that I would love to ballroom dance at our wedding. We signed up for private lessons with Anna and she suggested that the Rumba style would be best for our song. At first it we were nervous but Anna help choreograph steps that we were comfortable with. We are so excited to perform this dance on our wedding day. If your looking to do something more then just swaying on your dance wedding Access Ballroom is the place to go for lessons.
