Meet the team
Hi there!
I'm Joel, the owner, founder and main DJ of Birdsong Entertainment since day 1 in 2013.
My musical journey started at the age of 5 with classical piano lessons which evolved into EDM music production and then DJing in junior high school. Although I play current and classic recognizable hit music of all genres and eras that I've curated over the last two decades that keep the dance floor moving, my roots in EDM really shine for crowds that want to hear these styles, especially later on in the evening.
For the last 12 years, I've worked full time as a DJ in various nightclubs during weeknights in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and of course ran my mobile DJ events mostly on the weekends. Prior to this, I worked for several well known mobile DJ businesses in the city, so I have about 20 years of experience in the industry. Once I gained enough confidence on the microphone from MCing in nightclubs, I decided to launch Birdsong Entertainment and go off on my own, as I've always been an entrepreneur, and have been told that I excel in customer service.
When I'm not booked to DJ somewhere, you can usually find me livestreaming video games/DJ sets on various platforms, doing my neverending music homework, VJing and creating sound reactive visualizations, playing soccer or ultimate frisbee, cooking, gardening, repairing/building electronic devices, or doing photo/videography.
Since the music I play is almost always copyrighted, I can't host any of my DJ sets anywhere, but I'm allowed to perform live online, so I could even drop a short DJ set on one of my live streams to show you what I've got - just send me a note!
Thanks for stopping by!
