We hired Donna and her team at Savoury City for our wedding at the UBC Boathouse. Food was the most important part of our wedding and we are extremely happy that we went with Savoury City on this one!
Donna was organized, professional and passionate with her work. She worked with us and our planner to develop a custom family-style menu that incorporated the specific elements from Chinese cuisines that we wanted, into dishes that are also welcomed by the western palates. During our menu tasting, my spouse and I were so impressed by all the dishes that we were convinced that they were made by someone who grew up in a Chinese household (and we did meet the head chef later who was of Chinese background). For one of the appetizers, the chef even re-created a dish from our favorite restaurant. Donna and her team were also open to all constructive feedback, even though there were few, and we felt very comfortable sharing our honest opinions on the tasting.
Donna’s team took allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. In addition to a few guests with relatively common allergens, we had a guest who had allergies to multiple common ingredients (e.g. gluten, garlic, onion, mushroom etc.) and Donna’s team was able to work around those and curate a special plate. Their thorough consideration covers not only what ends up on the plate, but also the marination process and what ingredients the sauces are made from.
On our wedding day, Donna’s team brought our menu to life and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! One of the feedback we got from the guest was "when they brought out the braised short ribs in the end at first I thought it was chocolate cake and I was like ok that's an interesting follow up to the menu. And then when the wait staff set it down I realized it was a MOUNTAIN OF MEAT!" Needless to say, all the food was enjoyed, including the mountain of meat. While waiting near the kitchen entrance, we also enjoyed catching a glimpse of Donna running the pass checking on each dish before sending it off to “table 1” and “table 2”. It was so cool to see and we had no doubt that the guest experience would be everything we expected and more. Donna is a true professional through and through and it was such a pleasure to be working with her and the team.

Donna and the Savoury City team made our event so special. From our first meeting and a specially curated menu based on our tastes, we knew we were in good hands. Donna and her team created a beautiful buffet and signature cocktails all while proving incredible service. Check out their BYOB bar package. Thank you so much Donna! -

We selected Savoury City as our caterer after narrowing down choices based on reviews. The tasting and flexibility won us over as we wanted to mix both Vietnamese and Western dishes in our mixed culture wedding. It went perfectly. The food was delicious and Sarah our event coordinator from Savoury worked her magic to arrange not only the reception but the beautiful chair and table decor for the ceremony as well. Savoury City far exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them to any couple seeking the magical wedding they dreamed of. Thanks to Sarah for all her amazing work! We really enjoyed working with her and the rest of their staff 😀 -

We chose Savoury City for our wedding and it was one of the best choices we've ever made. Sarah and her team were really professional and amazing, she always know what we want and gave us a good advice. There food was really stunning and delicious, all of my guests were really happy and gave a lots of compliments. I would strongly recommend Savoury City 👍 -

Donna and her team were an absolute dream to work with!! She came to the venue site with us several times to do walk through and to make sure that everything will be organized on the day of. Her emails were always full of positivity and Donna is one of the main reasons we were really excited planning the wedding, knowing that we will be in good hands with her in charge. She was not only our caterer, but she also organized all of the rentals for us, which was a big weight lifted off our shoulders because we would have no idea where to begin. She worked closely with our budget and made sure that we were comfortable with everything from beginning to end. The food, needless to say, was delicious!! We had been thinking of the food since doing the tasting 3 months before our wedding, and on the day of it did not disappoint at all. -

Amanda Sent on 19/12/2017First of all our wedding tasting experience was TOP NOTCH. The food was SO delicious and we couldn't stop eating. They were open to additions such as adding peas to the mushroom risotto, getting us poutine for the late night snack AND making our delicious fried chicken gluten free for my husband! OMG day of? Our guests couldn't get ENOUGH. They were obsessed with the food which as we all know, is RARE. Plus? Donna and her staff are SO FUN! We love them and would hang out in every day life if we could :) Please hire them!!!!!! -

Coco Sent on 20/09/2017Donna was amazing, she took the most detailed notes the first time we met. Our tasting was fabulous, we got to taste everything and we liked every single item! She has a great team and they provided excellent service, and she went above and beyond to make sure our reception is worry free for me on my big day :) Definitely recommend Savoury City if you are looking for one of a kind menu, and absolutely delicious food. -
