About

Gabriela started Dulce Couture Cakes with the simple idea of creating beautiful, artistic and exclusive custom design cakes that not only look beautiful on the outside but also taste delicious.

At Dulce* Couture Cakes, Gabriela lets her creativity, artistic skills and passion for colours blend together to create unique superior designs.

Gabriela’s favourite part is to work one-on-one with the couples during the design process to ensure the cake reflects their personality, while maintaining the perfect combination between the wedding theme, the venue and decor.

Terrible experience

Save yourself the stress and headaches—go with a true professional or an established bakery that can deliver a high-quality cake and good customer service.

I contacted Gabriela about nine months before my wedding. We clearly explained what we wanted, provided reference images, and shared our estimated guest count (based on invitations, not RSVPs yet). We also mentioned the wedding would be on a Sunday and end relatively early since guests had work the next day.

At first, things seemed fine. She provided a very basic contract (a photo or scan of a template filled in by hand). We even pointed out a pricing discrepancy where she had undercharged us by $100, as we wanted to be honest.

She made us a small sample cake—it was expensive, but it looked and tasted good. After that, communication became inconsistent. When we finally reconnected to discuss details, she didn’t seem to remember our earlier conversations and kept changing elements of the design. It started to feel like the cake was becoming what she wanted, not what we had agreed on.

Two weeks before the wedding, we reviewed everything again. I confirmed the guest count would actually be about one-third less than originally estimated. We also discussed delivery and placement at the venue. At that point, she suddenly asked if the cake was the main dessert or for a midnight table. I clarified again that it was the main dessert, as guests wouldn’t be staying late.

She then panicked and claimed the agreed cake size wouldn’t be enough, insisting we needed an additional cake—at a significant extra cost. This didn’t make sense given that our guest count had decreased. She referenced formulas she learned in school, but her explanation didn’t align with the situation. The conversation became increasingly aggressive.

At that point, my husband and I decided to go with an established bakery instead. They immediately offered a tasting and asked all the right questions: guest count, timing (main dessert vs. late-night), design, delivery, and setup. The service was professional, friendly, and reasonably priced—even on short notice during a busy weekend. (The cake turned out to be the same size we had agreed on with Gabriela and we actually ended up with lots of cake left over.)

We informed Gabriela that we no longer required her services. Unfortunately, we had just paid the second half of the balance. She reacted very poorly—becoming agitated, yelling at us, and behaving unprofessionally. She eventually agreed to refund the second payment, but kept the first.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. Don’t be fooled by the attractive photos on her website and Instagram… Her service is unprofessional, disorganized, and difficult to deal with. I would strongly recommend choosing a reliable, well-established provider.

Okay, cake was delivered ahead at least

My mother in law purchased the cake for our weeding and it was delivered early. The owner had an "emergancy" and couldn't decorate the cake so on top of spending hundreds on a cake that didn't include decor, she also didn't decorate it as promised. Frosted well, Tasted okay not worth the money but atleast it was delivered for the day and we could have our cake cutting.

Such a Great Wedding Cake

Gabriella, the owner of Dulce Couture Cakes is an amazing baker. I cannot stress the word aaaaaammmmmaaaaazzzzzziiiiinnnngggg quite enough. She made an amazing semi-nude cake for our wedding, with multiple flavours that accommodated everyone's sensibility.

Gabriella also made a second, personal cake for one of our groomsmen for his birthday. As someone who is not particular to marzipan, I thoroughly enjoyed this version. Turns out the issue was that I had never had "good" marzipan before :). My wife and I would recommend her services to anybody. She is attentive, friendly and incredibly professional.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
