Our Wedding Day

We chose this venue because of its breathtaking views, beautiful architecture, and overall dreamy atmosphere – and on the surface, it delivered. Our wedding day looked magical in photos, and guests raved about how gorgeous the setting was.

We were offered the option of hiring a coordinator for an additional fee, with the promise that this person would assist with planning in the lead-up to the wedding and manage logistics on the day itself. We agreed to this service, expecting a smoother experience and professional guidance throughout the process.

However, it became clear on the day of the wedding that the coordination responsibilities were either abandoned or significantly overlooked. Tasks that fall under the basic expectations of a coordinator were neglected entirely — resulting in confusion, disorganization, and added pressure on both the bride and groom. As a result, family members and even guests had to step in to manage details and restore order, which should never happen at a professionally coordinated event.

We understand that venues often handle multiple weddings at once and that logistics can be complex. However, based on our experience, we believe Plaza Rive Nord is currently lacking the staffing and infrastructure needed to provide the level of service and coordination that clients are promised and rightfully expect.

While our wedding day was visually stunning and the location delivered in terms of setting and ambiance, the planning and execution by the venue's team, particularly the coordinator, fell significantly short of expectations. Below are the most pressing issues we faced:

Lack of Organization and Support: There was a clear absence of structure and communication on the day of the wedding. Our hired coordinator was largely unavailable throughout the event and failed to fulfill even the most basic responsibilities.

Unclear Roles and Absent Staff: When my cousin and godparents arrived early to help with a few minor tasks I had asked of them, they ended up managing nearly everything. This included transporting all our belongings from the day before and handling reception setup — all of which should have been handled by the venue. No one greeted or guided them, and I was understandably unable to do so myself.

Timeline Confusion & Lack of Guest Direction: The coordinator appeared to be unfamiliar with our timeline, and after the ceremony, guests were left without direction on where to go or what to expect next. While we acknowledge that we were running behind schedule due to personal circumstances, once things were back on track, there was no effort made to smooth out the flow of the event. A skilled coordinator should have stepped in to guide the evening seamlessly from that point on — unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

Bar Service Issues: Bartenders refused to begin service until after speeches, despite the fact that we were behind schedule and drinks should have already been served — this created unnecessary frustration for our guests.

Disorganization at Ceremony: The coordinator disappeared during the lineup for the ceremony and, when questioned, stated, “I don’t know anyone.” That shouldn’t have mattered — a professional coordinator should be able to execute a lineup with or without knowing names by simply following a pre-established order.

Cleanliness & Professionalism Concerns: I was told there were questionable hygiene practices during the setup of the late-night food service. Kitchen supplies were reportedly dirty and needed cleaning before use.

Lack of Communication: I barely saw or heard from the coordinator all day. There was little to no check-in, direction, or leadership, leaving both myself and my family feeling unsupported and overwhelmed.

On the positive side, Saeed — whose role I’m still unsure of — was absolutely fantastic. He stepped in where he could, supported my family, and genuinely tried to hold things together. I’m very grateful for his effort and professionalism amidst the chaos.

We also want to acknowledge Melina, the manager. She was kind, courteous, and did assist with a few things here and there. This review is not intended to bash her personally, as we understand she made an effort. However, we genuinely believe that the dual responsibility of both manager and coordinator is far too demanding for one person — especially on such an important day. The coordinator role should be assigned to a dedicated, experienced individual whose sole focus is execution and support.

I also take partial responsibility — this was my first wedding, and I now realize how much more structure and preparation is needed when relying on a venue’s internal team. That said, a professional coordinator should be prepared to guide clients through the process, especially when they are paying for that level of service.

Final advice for future couples: If you are considering this venue, schedule multiple planning meetings with both your coordinator and the manager (in our case, this was the same person — a potential conflict in itself). Go over every single detail you expect to be managed on the day. Leave nothing to assumption. While the venue itself is beautiful, the internal management and coordination services need serious improvement to meet the standards expected for such an important event.

With all that said, I want to end on a positive note: Our guests genuinely had a wonderful time and, thanks to our amazing family stepping up behind the scenes, most of them had no idea how much was going wrong. The atmosphere, food (catered by my father), music, and setting truly created the magical feel we were hoping for.

The venue itself is absolutely exceptional.

Stunning venue, amazing staff, delicious food, and excellent service!

Surrounded by nature? Got it! Rustic vibes? Got it! Quiet and secluded area? Got it! Personal touches? Got it! Easy to get to (by car)? Got it!

Plaza Rive Nord was the second, and last, venue we visited and we could not be happier with the decision. From the moment we met with the venue coordinator, Melina, the vibes were all around immaculate. There was never any pressure to increase our budget or purchase things that we did not have any interest in. If we had any questions, we could always get an answer within a few days and never needed to worry about anything since they were always on top of things and willing to accomodate.

Melina is an absolute star and I am honestly not sure how she does it all! From writing up our invoice very quickly, to staying at the venue until 9:30pm the night before the wedding to help us decorate, and then staying at the wedding reception until 12am to check up on us in case we needed anything else, she was always there when we needed her.
Many of our guests loved the food, including the ones with allergies or food intolerances/preferences, and many of them asked "where we found this place? because it is so nice!".

I highly recommend Plaza Rive Nord to any couples planning their wedding and that want it to have a rustic and natural touch.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
