We had booked their advertised "wedding package" and even changed our date around to work with them. However we started to experience some disorganization and inconsistent communication from the Community Center.

The biggest red flag being when the DJ reached out to inquire about the audio equipment at the venue. Our DJ was told that there was no wedding on the day we had booked, and there was no other follow up or investigation into the matter. We reached out to the Community Center to find out why that would be, and they said they had scheduled us for the wrong day, but it was fixed now. They did not reach out to the DJ to follow up after realising the mistake, and we had to follow up again regarding the equipment.

We were then asked if we had paid our deposit yet, which we had paid 7 months previously. We were also both asked at different points who our fiance was, we would have thought that our names and wedding date would be recorded somewhere. After all of this we felt very uneasy and stressed about what would happen on our wedding day, so we made the decision to find a new venue, a mere 3 months before our big day.

We followed up with the community center about being refunded for our deposit. The 30 day cancellation period had ended, but we thought that in light of the circumstances they would be flexible. Unfortunately that was not the case, and they are taking no responsibility for their mistakes. They blamed the situation on their staff being volunteers, which isn't an excuse for unprofessional behavior. We were paying real money and planning a real wedding.

It's disappointing to lose the deposit, but it was absolutely worth it for the peace of mind. I'm sure the community center is great for community events, but I would never recommend hosting a wedding here.
