About

On WeddingWire since 2018

Fort Edmonton Park is a heritage park and event venue located in Edmonton, Alberta. The park is a historic reproduction of the original trading post that stood in the area before it became a city. Today, it encompasses 158 acres and features many beautiful event spaces to tie the knot. With its unique and diverse venues and nostalgic aesthetic, the park is sure to inspire romance in all of your guests.

Facilities and Capacity

When you marry here, you can choose from several ceremony sites and reception halls. The two on-site chapels, St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, are ideal for indoor nuptials. Alternately, you can wed at Memorial Garden in Fountain Park, an idyllic venue highlighted by its wrought-iron fence, vibrant flowers, and an old-fashioned wooden swing. This space is suitable for events of up to 100 guests. For the reception, you will be spoiled for choice with nine different function rooms available. Blatchford Hangar, the largest reception hall, boasts over 9,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 500 attendees. It is a recreation of Canada’s first civic hangar at the first municipal air harbour. Hotel Selkirk, Clerks' Quarters and Egge’s Barn are wonderful character-rich reception venues for weddings of up to 90-100 guests.

Services Offered

Fort Edmonton Park provides all-inclusive packages for engaged couples. They have three packages designed for a variety of wedding styles and sizes, and you can customize them to suit your needs. The events staff are also delighted to create a personalized plan for your unique celebration. Your event coordinator will oversee the day’s timeline, ensuring no detail is out of place. Each package includes catering services for a plated or buffet meal, and a tasting can be arranged so you can perfect your menu. The culinary team can accommodate special dietary requirements with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available with advance notice.

The event turned out great

The event was great.

Our ceremony went perfectly. However, the church was booked about an hour and a half after ours and people were arriving for that wedding while we were still taking photos... I feel like that was extremely unprofessional to have a venue booked in so closely to another’s. At least give us time to tear down, my mother and mother-in-law had to take down all of the ceremony decor as we were taking pictures, so the other wedding party could have the venue.

The reception was great, our guests loved everything about it. It was beautiful. However, the “security” at the “end” of the night (10 pm) was overbearing .. for the amount of money you spend for your day to be amazing, having to deal with some of the staff was a headache. The girls that helped setup the venue and helped us with last minute things at the beginning of the the night were great.

The security staff at the end of the night- were definitely not enjoyable. The end of the evening was cut short, due to me just being absolutely done dealing with some members of the park staff following around my guests. It got overwhelming, so I called it a night early considering we had until 2 am to clean up the venue.

Other than that mishap and unprofessionalism , I rated the venue fairly decent. Just for the fact that the venue was beautiful for pictures and the theme we were going for.

Good but had some hiccups

We had our reception at the Fort Edmonton Park Airplane Hangar. It was a stunning venue and it was big enough to hold our 250 person wedding comfortably. It was nice that the venue cost included catering (buffet, bar tenders, dessert table). Our event coordinator Nikki was responsive and quick in replying to emails. The biggest item that was unacceptable was that we signed our contract in October 2017 and our wedding was October 2018. In our contract, we signed to pay $55 per person. In January, they informed us that they were increasing their prices by $10 for 2018, but our price was going up ONLY $2.75. I recognise that that is better than a $10 increase, but $2.75 adds up with 250 people. I'm disappointed that they were unable to honour the price that we agreed on at the contract signing.

Nothing but good things to say

We booked our wedding at FEP and last minute it had to be canceled due to COVID. The staff at FEP we’re on contacting us - personally via phone call - immediately. Not only did they deal with the pandemic as best they could in a timely manner, but they were also extremely empathetic to our situation. We didn’t get to get married there, but we had great experiences planning with them and dealing with them in the face of unexpected circumstances. Would highly recommend!
