5 Sep, 2020The story of our wedding
We eloped on September 5, 2020! We are hoping to still have our large wedding next year, but decided to have a last minute micro wedding, so the pressure isn’t as high next year if COVID changes our plans. Within about two weeks we planned it. We got married on my grandma’s property. Her property has been in our family for over 100 years. Her home faces out to the property where my great grandma’s hotel was. The hotel was called Stanley House in Muksoka, Ontario. My father in law captured black and white photos on his film camera that is about 30 years old. The black and white photo of my husband and I in the old row boat reminds me of what I would find in my grandma old photos. We look like a couple from 1970s vacationing at Stanley House. We then retired to my cousins restaurant for the reception. To pull this off in two weeks a lot of people got involved. My cousin lent me her dress and thankfully it fit perfectly. My dad made the arch and got the property ready. My mom selected the decor and picked a majority of the flowers (all the hydrangeas were hand picked). My brother was the florist. My other brother did photography. My sister in law helped with my hair. My sister took her maid of honor responsibilities very seriously and planned a last minute COVID bachelorette party. My parent in laws prepared us their cottage for us to have a two day mini moon. I wouldn’t have changed a thing! The day was absolutely perfect.
