History

Built in 1850 for Duncan Campbell, who was Simcoe’s first postmaster, the home was known as Lynnwood. In 1902, Duncan’s son Lorne donated the building to the town of Simcoe. In 1972, the building was designated a National Historic Site of Canada and two years later, in 1974, it became the home of the Lynnwood Arts.

Today, Lynnwood Arts is revitalized and looking towards a bright future. An active space for workshops, events, children’s programming, and exhibitions, it is a vibrant, welcoming space that is inclusive and accessible to people of all ages.

It houses a permanent collection that contains over 800 works and features major Canadian artists such as William Ronald, Tom Hodgson, Robert Cadotte, and Alex Colville.

A perfect place!

Having our wedding at Lynnwood was the best decision we could have made. Not only is the house gorgeous (and so is the garden), it is also comfortable and well equipped. The Lynnwood team is most helpful: they did everything to make our special day very special indeed. Yes, I can definitively recommend Lynnwood!

Beautiful space, supportive staff

Historical houses were designed for parties! And with well-curated Canadian art on its walls, Lynnwood offers inviting, interesting, beautiful, and comfortable spaces for a wedding celebration. Even for dancing! The house and gardens were ideal for celebrating our wedding last summer with 46 guests (this seems like the maximum number if you want everyone to be able to dine together in the same room). My husband and I chose the Lynnwood Arts Centre for its gorgeousness and convenient location, but as soon as we started communicating with Lynnwood’s expert, reliable staff we realized there was a solid third reason to have our wedding there. Samantha, Kim, and all the other staff members who supported our wedding planning and coordinated our wedding day are great to work with. We are so thankful to them and so in love with the Lynnwood Arts Centre!

Unforgettable and Wonderful Experience

From beginning to end…our event was seamless and resulted in a day we will never forget! Memories made to last a lifetime and all the worry was handled by the highly experienced team at Lynnwood. We let Lynnwood “take the wheel” and never looked back. They ensured all our needs were met and also went above and beyond by making suggestions we would not have thought of. If you’re looking for the perfect venue with the perfect team, look no further than Lynnwood. We look forward to many future events with them.
