Patrick and Zoe's wedding in London, Ontario

2 Nov, 2019The story of our wedding
We met by swiping right. Our first date included drinking shamrock shakes on St. Patrick's Day and talking until 3 am. We both knew pretty quickly that we had found our person. On a muggy, rainy day one month and one day until our wedding, Patrick proposed on top of Hawk Cliff overlooking Lake Erie. We had to cut through a farmer's squash field to get to the lookout and on the way, Zoe got a huge mosquito bite in the middle of her forehead. It was exactly us. The ground was so muddy that Patrick squatted like a baseball catcher and presented the most beautiful ring in the world. Custom rose gold halo ring with so many special details. Of course, Zoe agreed or maybe just cried a whole lot while hugging him, which meant YES!
Before we knew it, we were in full-blown wedding planning mode. From weekends at antique stores or garage sales to find the perfect size glass jar for centrepieces to online shopping for the right colour candle votives. Every detail of our wedding had a personal touch that meant something to us. Every vendor we hired was either local, recommended by a loved one, or a close family friend. Zoe's dress was described as modern and romantic. Exactly what she wanted. Her stunning bridesmaids wore mahogany dresses and Patrick's groomsmen sported burgundy converse with vibrant navy suits.

We were the very last wedding to ever take place in the downtown London historic building on York Street, which made it even more unique. Our ceremony was intimate and we worked closely with our officiant to ensure that our vows paralleled our values. The room was filled with warm lighting, paper table cloths (with crayons for colouring), succulents on the table, tacos for dinner, and of course our family and close friends. We danced until midnight and the last song of the night included epic dance moves by our beloved friend who is just the coolest. We made sure to head over to our favourite dive bar, Call the Office for a couple of after-party drinks of course. In true Zoe and Patrick's style, the day/night was filled with all the things we love with our favourite people!
