10 Jun, 2023The story of our wedding
It’s been almost a month since we got married, and I still can’t believe how wonderful, beautiful, and easy the day was. We had a small guest-list with 24 people in attendance and we were married in Niagara Falls. We got married in the Botanical Gardens at Willow Pond and had our dinner at Queen Victoria Place. We had such a hard time choosing though between the different gorgeous ceremony locations and stunning restaurants. The Niagara Parks Service has a ceremony package that includes the location, the officiant, up to 50 chairs, and the bridal bouquet and groom's boutonniere. Every single person I worked with through Niagara Parks was so helpful and lovely. Not only were they the most cost-effective option by far, but they had also so many wonderful venue options to choose from. I can’t say enough good things about having our wedding dinner here.
For the dinner, the restaurant manager Sarah was phenomenal. I had so many questions throughout the process, and it felt like I was emailing her new ideas or changing things a couple of times a week for the last month, but she handled everything and went above and beyond. Even though it was June, the night was a bit cold, but they had plenty of heaters above us. The only thing I was nervous about was the food since we never had a trial, but everyone raved about how tasty it was!

Besides the flowers that came with the ceremony package, we rented flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms for the corsages and boutonnieres and the bridesmaids' bouquets were made from flowers we purchased through Ling's Moment. I did end up buying some flower tape for the wires, to thicken the stems. I even mentioned to someone about putting them together, and they had no idea they weren’t live flowers!
The only other vendor we booked was the makeup artists. Not only did I love my makeup, but every single person that got their makeup done on the day looked so amazing. It was such a fun process with my bridesmaid and moms. The makeup artists were such lovely and talented people. We had some hiccups with the planning due to changes in my wedding day schedule, but everything went so incredibly smoothly the day of. I got married in the heat of June and had part of the day was inside with minimal AC with a ton of people packed into a small room. I could swear I was going to sweat it all off, but NOTHING moved from my face. I felt so beautiful on the day.
We also did a traditional Chinese tea ceremony before the ceremony in the garden. I think this was a real highlight for not only us, but all of the guests as well. It was such a nice time to spend with the guests and get one-on-one time with our loved ones.
Overall the day was so incredibly lovely and I wouldn't have done anything differently. Of course, we wished we could celebrate with a larger group, but we are both people who like to be in the moment and don't enjoy the focus on us. We are now planning smaller celebrations with those that we couldn't include on the day of, but more informally.
