Shawn Van Daele
My now 12 years as a professional wedding photographer, to be quite honest, was unplanned. A student of fine art at Toronto's OCAD, I eventually branched off into Graphic Design, and it was when I fatefully picked up a camera that I fell head over heals in love with being able to not only freeze time – but turn it into art, at the same time. I bring my strong arts background to every frame I shoot, from composition, colour, to most importantly, emotion and story.
Father to 4 (crazy) Boston Terriers, I'm also the dude behind The Drawing Hope Project, which has been showcased on The TODAY Show, ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, Global News, Huffington Post, among others.
As far back as my memory goes, I have always loved having a camera in my hand. Not only capturing the day for lovely couples like yourself – but connecting, having fun, and creating an amazing experience from beginning to end – photography to me...is much more than having a camera in my hand.
A native of Newfoundland, I've spent time between Alberta, New Orleans, and Ontario. When I'm not at weddings, engagement shoots (they're so fun!), or at my computer editing, you can find me in the garden, or anywhere outdoors.
