DJ Services

Jan was so incredible! From the beginning of working with him to the very end he was attentive, flexible, organized and always made sure we knew his primary goal was to help make our day exactly what we hoped for! He was extremely easy going about our music preferences and we felt so relaxed going into our wedding knowing he had everything under control. Thanks to Jan everything flowed so smoothly, and our primary hope - which was a bumping dance floor - was very much achieved! Everyone was raving about his DJ skills! We will always be grateful to have chosen a great person like him!

Excellent DJ

Jan was an excellent DJ. He was very responsive and flexible. He was able to accommodate our requests. Throughout the whole event, I didn't have to worry about the music because I knew it was in good hands. It was a great party and the dance floor always had a lot of people on it. Would highly recommend Captiv Sounds.

Great experience

We had been to several events with Jan DJing (where my time in particular was spent mostly on the dance floor) and knew he would be a great choice for our day. We weren’t sure if dancing would be allowed, but knew we would be in great hands with Jan managing our ceremony sound, and background music during our short cocktail style reception. We appreciated Jan’s planning process, which kept us on track, ensuring we had chosen music in plenty of time. He also had great suggestions for songs for each element of the day when we would come up drawing blanks. He was happy to go ahead with our somewhat unorthodox dinner music choices and created the exact vibe we were going for – laid back drinks on a patio sort of atmosphere. He was able to source a first dance cover song that we could only find on YouTube, and it sounded great on the night of. We also appreciated his emceeing skills, which was great as it alleviated any of our guests from having to take on that potentially stressful role. It turned out we could dance, and Jan did a great job as expected. It was the perfect evening. Thank you Jan!

Perfect wedding day

Jan of Captiv Sounds was amazing as our DJ for our wedding. I had booked Jan pretty early on in our wedding planning process, and with covid I had booked Jan with more than a year until the wedding. He was always open for communication and responsiveness was great. I had a very specific vision for my ceremony music, with timing walking and the music and Jan executed it perfectly! My husband and I aren’t big into dancing or partying, so we put our trust into Jan to create the reception/dancing playlist and it was perfect. With covid, we only had a small number of people but Jan kept the party going the whole night.

Wonderful wedding DJ!

Jan was an absolute pleasure to have as our DJ. From the beginning, his organization, passion, and affordability really stood out to us. Given that our wedding was during the pandemic, we were unable to have a dance floor, so we had to improvise a lot of activities that we could do, and a lot of the responsibility for running these activities ultimately fell on our DJ- including karaoke, and music bingo. Jan did such a great job leading all of these activities, and all of our guests commented on how much fun they had at our wedding in spite of there being no dancing. Jan also kept the amazing soundtrack playing throughout the evening to keep everyone entertained. Don’t let Jan’s soft-spoken nature fool you- he is an amazing DJ and great with all things entertainment! He even came to our rescue in helping us set up our flameless sparklers, despite these not being part of his set-up. And we were also able to rent out a stunning fog machine from him for our first dance as well, which he executed perfectly. I would highly recommend Jan as a DJ for any wedding!

Incredible DJ Services

My husband and I hired Jan/CaptivSounds for our wedding September 7th, 2019 at Stonefields Estate in Carleton Place, and can't say enough good things about Jan and his amazing DJ services. He's wonderful to work with, responsive, and very professional. From our preliminary meeting to the wedding day, we felt we were in such good hands. He took the time to listen to what we wanted, offered excellent advice in our meeting, and was an integral part of our wedding day; making sure that the sound and music during each part of the day was exactly right. We had guests approaching us all day and night telling us how much they loved the music. Jan takes such great care in reading his audience and tailoring the music based on the atmosphere of the moment. We feel very lucky to have had him be part of our day and would recommend him to anyone we know! He's truly amazing. We would hire him again in a heart beat.

Wonderful DJ

Jan was so easy to work with, and made the process of building a playlist so stress-free. From day one, he was responsive, helpful, and open to anything we needed, be it for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, or party. Jan did an amazing job with the sound (i.e., setting up a mic and stand for the ceremony and the reception) as well as the music, building playlists that fit the venue and created exactly the ambience we imagined. His playlist for the party was incredible! Guests were on the dancefloor until the very end of the night, and would've been happy to keep dancing! I would highly recommend Jan as a DJ.

Kept the party going!

We loved working with Jan. He was very easy going, like us, and read the crowd really well to keep the dancefloor party going through the night. He really took the time to guide us in planning the evening, and had great suggestions for the timing and order of our opening dances. Many many thanks to Jan - very highly recommended!

Jan has built his foundations on a background in turntablism, the art of manipulating sounds and creating music using turntables and a DJ mixer.
