The Cottage By The Bay

Beth and staff made our wedding day perfect. Breathtaking spot with very friendly professional staff! We cannot wait to enjoy each Anniversary at the beach. I highly recommend The Cottage by the Bay as well as the Beach Street inn for any wedding. Thank you xo love the Wilson's

I had a great planning experience with Beth and the location made my wedding a dream. Unfortunately when arriving for the wedding, Beth was not anywhere to be found the day before or the day of which left my wedding party scrambling to bring decorations, favours and other important items where they needed to be only an hour before the ceremony. This was stressful because as I was getting ready for my day, I was worrying that she was not coming to me to find my items and placing them. (Something that she said would be done the day before the wedding). During the reception, she argued with my photographer as well as myself and tried to change the order of events which caused chaos. When sitting at dinner.. my wine was not placed or corked and my wedding party had to quickly do so. Many details of which a wedding planner should have been present enough to have taken care of. All of these things could have been over looked until the next morning.. I woke to learn that my guests had been told by the bar tender, (who turned out to be the owners niece) that a jar that was placed at the open bar was a donation jar for myself and my groom. I learned that all of cocktail hour and into the end of the dance.. my guests had been generously leaving large bills and so many small bills that the jar was so full that it had to be emptied many times (by the bar tender) We never saw any of this money and I have many guests who left $50 bills.. $100 bills…. I’ve been told that it was assumed by the amount seen in the jar that we would have had at least $1000 that was generously left for us, for our honeymoon. She now claims that they were her tips.. my mom herself, clarified with the bartender to be sure that the jar was donation for us and the bar tender said yes it is for us since we had to purchase all of the alcohol. Beth is now calling my guests “cheap” for not tipping.. but the truth is.. she did receive tips separately from the donation jar. We also had $100 bill stolen from the seaholm that evening out of an area that our decorations were placed by the staff. When we rented the seaholm, we never even received a key for locking it and now seeing that so much money has been stolen, this worries me for any future guests. My guests as well as myself have been in contact with Beth regarding the issue. She is contradicting her story with lies and she has basically said too bad and is not willing to make this right. Had I known what was happening, I would have told my guests to keep their money and just enjoy our wedding. I feel awful that they were lied to and taken advantage of. Thankfully the location of this venue.. the scenery and the wonderful people that I shared my day with made our wedding perfect but the days after have been very discouraging. The dishonesty is hard to swollow. So if you’re planning on booking this venue.. I encourage you to keep an eye on everything. Thank goodness we moved our gifts and cards and hid them during the night because I have no doubt that they would have been gone also. :(

I knew when we got engaged that I wanted to get married on the east coast, New Brunswick is where I grew up and holds a special place in my heart. I wanted something outdoors, beautiful and scenic. We looked up the usual venues but nothing felt quite right for the intimate gathering we wanted, then I stumbled upon The Cottage by the Bay. We got in touch with Beth and she put us in touch with another Toronto bride getting married there this summer who had had a chance to visit the venue. After meeting with her we booked it sight unseen.
Beth puts you at ease with all your planning, has lots of great vendor contacts and plenty of recommendations for St. Martins and the surrounding area.
When we arrived at The Cottage by the Bay two days before our wedding we knew we had made the right choice. The location is breathtaking, right on the beach with views of the sea caves. We had also booked the house right beside the venue (which Beth also owns) and it was the perfect gathering spot for friends and family throughout the weekend.
Our wedding day was perfect, Beth kept everything running smoothly and on time, we had nothing to worry about and couldn't have asked for a better day!

One of the most beautiful seaside locales anywhere on the East Coast. The most professional and helpful staff, any request or question was quickly attended to - positive, friendly, knowledgeable. As a wedding DJ, I felt lucky that my sister had such great support for her wedding, and all other vendors and staff were easy to work with when it came to my role in supplying music and A/V for the event. 5 stars all around.
