    It was ok...

Our experience with MCC was ok... We really were drawn to their packages they offer and the interior was a bit more updated compared to other halls. However, they were not very flexible or accommodating during the whole process of the wedding - which I'm not sure if Covid plays a part in this because venues are in so much demand that they don't NEED to be accommodating but it was very frustrating. They took forever to respond to my emails but would hound me when they needed a response - like a phone call on the same day of an email if I hadn't responded yet; and when they did respond they would only answer half my questions sometimes because the person I worked with didn't bother to read the whole email and only looked at the parts of the email she was urgently needing. Staff took so many of our favours from the tables which was frustrating as we didn't even get to keep a favour from our own wedding. Overall I probably would've takken more time to look for a venue and been pickier. Hire a wedding planner to be able to deal with the venue for you.

    Beautiful!!!

Planning a wedding through Covid was extremely stressful. We worked with Ann and she was LOVELY!! She truly went above and beyond to help bring our vision to life. The hall is modern, beautiful, the food was amazing and everyone had a great time! They are fairly priced and we’ve recommended our friends to book here !! Xoxox Rafi and Lousine

    Perfect wedding venue

Our wedding was a dream thanks to the MCC. They went above and beyond all of our expectations. Antonio, Connie, Melissa Daniel and the rest of the staff were exceptional! No better place to get married

    Cliff saved my wedding!

We booked Mississauga Convention Centre prior to Covid-19 and all of the restrictions. When it seemed likely that our winter wedding date would not go ahead, they helped us move our date up, into the fall. Cliff and Connie were attentive to all of my many stress emails and phone calls, working their absolute hardest to make our dream wedding come true. Changes were made until the day before the wedding, and they were there to constantly adapt to our changing needs. The staff working our wedding worked tirelessly, resetting all of the tables to allow us to have a second dinner seating to allow for social distancing. The food was very reasonably priced and fantastic! We received countless compliments! I cannot thank this team enough for everything they did for us. I would recommend this venue to everyone!

    Mississauga Convention Centre's reply:

Thank you Mariam for your review. It was a pleasure to work with you on this special day. I am so happy that we were able to move forward with your special occassion.

    Fantastic Venue!

What a fantastic experience, I was blown away by how thorough Connie and Taylor were about all the details of our special day! They made the entire process so easy and even though we had the difficulties of planning during Covid, it was still so seamless. I could not be more grateful, thank you!

    Our wedding

What can we say... nothing but an AMAZING wedding ceremony experience that the MCC & team had planned for us. Just when you thought it wasn’t going to happen, they made it happen!

We especially want to THANK; MICHELLE GONCALVES, for her continued positivity during these challenging times. Since day 1, which was in February of 2019, she stuck with us the entire way and made our magical wedding day come true even after we had to postpone our original wedding date from May 23rd 2020 to September 25th 2020 due to COVID.
Michelle treated us like family throughout the entire time. She even stuck around for our ceremony even though she was done for the day. That meant a lot to us to have her there and it showed what kind of person she is, genuine, positive and understanding.

We have heard nothing but negative experiences from other couples who were to be married at other venues this year. NOT THE MISSISSAUGA CONVENTION CENTRE! We can positively tell you that please, do not hesitate to schedule a meeting with them for your special event! You won’t be disappointed.

We also want to point out that with the strict guidelines and protocols regarding COVID19, the MCC followed this as required. The washrooms were spotless and constantly kept clean, many hand sanitizer machines were displayed, employees had masks/ face shields on the entire time and signs were displayed throughout the venue and guest tables. Tables were spread out far apart to adhere to social distant guidelines ( and it didn’t look awkward at all). Our guests felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire time.

Thank you MCC & Michelle for all that you have done. We can finally move forward with our lives and we are nothing but smiles as we are writing this during our honeymoon. We hope nothing but great things to come your way for the remainder of 2020 as we know it’s been a crazy year.

We give a 10/10 ⭐️. Thank you once again from the bottom of our 💕 hearts!

    Dismal. 10/10 would not recommend!

As a Mississauga resident, I was always in awe of the Mississauga Convention Centre every time I drove by it. I knew they hosted many distinguished events, that they were a first class organization and believed that I would never be fortunate enough to work with them. Then came time to plan my own wedding, I heard rave reviews from family and friends about the ambiance, the food and the overall experience. I was overjoyed to discover that they were within my budget and I was so excited to be their client. I was truly looking forward to hosting my own world class event with them.

The pandemic hit and devasted people across the globe. My partner and my wedding extravaganza were no exception. We patiently waited for things to improve before reaching out to MCC, afterall, they're top class within the GTA.The way they handled the municipal government restrictions on gathering sizes and re-accommodating our event was admirable, it was unlike the horror stories we watched on the news of venues cancelling events and refusing to refund clients their four or five-digit deposits. We considered ourselves extremely lucky!

The trouble with MCC began one month before our event. As we tried to work with them on finalizing guest count and the desired banquet room we learned that MCC was not as organized as we once thought. I understand this was a stressful time for the business and its clients in unique ways, however, MCC did a terrible job of keeping us informed as to how our event would be different than before. As someone who works in sports & entertainment, I know the importance of fluid circumstances and updating many parties simultaneously. I politely requested a one pager outlining how each of Ontario's COVID-19 related restrictions would affect our event because to be frank, my mind was spinning as our date drew nearer and I wanted to be sure I understood the full scope of our revised event. My sales representative's response: "We get the same information from the government as you do." This was very disappointing to me. I know I was not the only person trying to plan a wedding during the pandemic and I imagine it would have saved MCC from answering the same questions repeatedly by giving their clients a document or webpage detailing how typical banquet events would be affected in addition to revisions as the province adjusted regulations. A one-pager would have disclosed that certain meal options would no longer be feasible due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, I did not learn this until two weeks before my event date. When I requested clarification on which late-night meal options would be feasible, our assigned rep said, "Anything that is preassembled". Unfortunately I have never worked in the kitchen at MCC and did not know which meals were/were not preassembled, so the lack of detail in their response added to my growing anxiety.

Two weeks before our event, I was notified that municipal restrictions was forcing MCC to relocate our event to a different outdoor area of the building. I requested a revised floorplan so that I could submit an appropriate seating arrangement, but my sales rep simply said, "I have sent it to you three times already." This response implied that although we were being relocated to an outdoor location that was different than what we agreed to and were shown in weeks prior, that the seating configuration was still the same. Hard to believe for a venue that was built for indoor events only, but I took our rep's word for it. I used the floorplan shared with me three times prior to create a seating arrangement and submitted by the date requested. I was quickly informed that the seating arrangement I submitted was "not compatible", and that I needed to reevaluate. In the interest of time, I decided it would be best to see the new setup in person and hash out all the details because my event is now five days away and I would like to spend some time relaxing.

When I arrived at MCC I was handed ... you guessed it, an updated floorplan! Had this been shared with me a week earlier, this meeting would not be necessary and I could have spent my time moving into my new home. The sales rep suddenly began sharing unique seating options for my guests (ex. rotating guests throughout the evening) and claimed they were shared with me during earlier meetings, which was not true. I then spent the next FOUR HOURS working on the updated floorplan using my tiny phone screen (as I did not have my laptop to view my guestlist and prior seating arrangements on) and weighing the unique seating options with my family. After agreeing on one of the new options, the sales rep told me it is no longer feasible and tried to convince me to go with another option. It was extremely disheartening to hear the rep go back on their word after just telling us they would support us 100% with the unique seating option that they presented to me. I hope to never work with a company with so little integrity ever again.

I made the best of my event and all the other vendors I worked with helped make it the best it could be. Although MCC was flexible regarding redirection of my deposit to a later event, their approach to accommodating my event as scheduled was extremely haphazard. They basically did the minimum to justify keeping my deposit. The professionalism and customer service was less than inadequate for a business of that caliber.

PS. Sales rep Cliff was awesome! I spoke to him by fluke the day before our wedding and he was extremely acommodating & easy-going.

    Mississauga Convention Centre's reply:

    Hi Rae- Marie,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are very appreciative that you chose us to host your special day! The pandemic has been a very challenging time. Our hearts go out to all of the couples who had to deal with the added stress of postponing their special day and making alternate arrangements. Thank you for your compliment on our policy put in place– we are glad that our clients feel we have been fair and accommodating.

With the government restrictions, we were unable to host your event indoors as originally agreed upon. We were very excited when we got the news that outdoor events would be permitted in time for your special day. An outdoor event brought a new set of challenges and encouraged our entire team to think creatively, as this was not part of our normal area of expertise.

We apologize that you feel you were not kept up to date with information. With the short notice of the ability to host events and the very limited information that we were given – it was difficult to put something together. We have since created a document to share with all of our clients outlining our Covid-19 protocol. We value your feedback and will strive to make sure your experience is not repeated. With the ever-changing restrictions that the government is implementing to help stop the spread of Covid-19, there are certain restrictions that change for us as well. We apologize that your floor plan had to be adjusted so close to your big day. Unfortunately, it was something that was out of our control as we had to await confirmation and approvals for change. We very much value that you chose to host your special day with us and apologize if these issues were disheartening. Each of our clients are extremely important to us and we apologize if you did not feel supported when dealing with your seating arrangement in such strange circumstances.

We strive to be the venue that you hear rave reviews about. We apologize if you feel that our customer service did not exceed your expectations. We can assure you that we take every review to heart and will address your concerns. We can only hope that we have the opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future and that you will give us another opportunity to wow you. Wishing you much happiness in your marriage!

    Unprofessional & Inexperienced!

This place is the farthest any venue can be from “Hospitality”. If you choose them to host your event, do that at your own risk (I guarantee you that you will regret it). I had my wedding there last week and I can tell you from my experience that their entire team has proven to be very inexperienced and unprofessional.

A Sales Associate (Taylor) was assigned to us from the moment we signed the contract. Throughout, the planning phase, she would make a lot of commitments & agreements that they never stuck to. Their Director (Cliff) would always intervene after the Sale Associate agreed to something and would cancel it without prior notice. We experienced that with a number of agreements including capacity of the event, number of bars, cake service, hall location, hall layout,…,etc. Unfortunately, when we expressed that we weren’t happy with that approach, their director responded in a very aggressive manner and pointing blame at our other vendors (who weren’t even part of any of the above agreements).

One of their managers (Antonio) jumped in the midst of our wedding and started yelling at members of my family like a maniac. He made a scene in front of everyone for no apparent reason. My brother had to escort him outside the event when he kept behaving that way multiple times.

Overall, this is a family-owned business that clearly doesn’t understand the concept of hospitality and client service. They showed very little flexibility in hosting our event (despite the abnormal circumstance we are currently going through with Covid). During those circumstance, they had a very poor level of responsiveness and decision making.

Overall, okay but room for improvement

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at MCC in September 2022. Overall, we were okay with the experience at the hall but there is room for improvement.

Originally, we expected to have our big day at MCC in September 2020 but COVID happened which shut everything down. In this regard, MCC was very accommodating as the hall let us change our date about 3 times at no charge. Cliff was the sales manager we were dealing with throughout the pandemic who was excellent. However, when we finally locked down our date in 2022, we discovered Cliff was no longer employed at MCC which was a big disappointment.

We had our tasting in 2020 where we wrote down the foods we wanted our guests to have. Thank goodness we wrote it down because the hall owners refused to let us try the food again as we prepared for our big day this year. We even offered to purchase the dishes we thought we wanted to have served; the owners declined. That being said the food on our big day was great. Most of our guests had positive things to say about the food and we really enjoyed each item. There were issues with the special dietary requests we provided to the hall. We spent weeks gathering all the information the hall needed only to have many of the requests ignored. For example, we requested the meat be cooked well done for certain guests because of various dietary restrictions. However, we were then informed their meat was cooked medium like everyone else and that the servers did not address the dietary restriction with any of those guests. Even worse were the guests who did not eat pork for religious reasons. For some reason, the hall assumed these people could also not eat chicken or steak, both of which did not include pork. This was very embarrassing and inconvenient. We also had a late-night station with pizza, sliders, and funnel cake. We were under the impression the food would be replenished as it was being eaten but that was incorrect. Once the food was done, it was done.

Our package included a premium open bar. When we originally booked our wedding with Cliff, we added a specific type of rum to the bar which was not normally served. The rum was documented in the contract. When the day finally arrived, we were shocked to learn that the hall had provided one bottle of the rum for the entire night. This meant that only the wedding party could partake in the rum despite having an open bar. This rum was incorporated because of the groom's cultural background but unfortunately guests were not able to share in that. This was very disappointing. While technically the hall met their obligation of serving the rum, it is very unreasonable to only have one bottle as part of an open bar. However, the lone bartender was great and was mostly able to keep up with the line at the bar.

The head server for the night was great. She asked us lots of questions throughout the night and really tried to take care of us and our guests. The servers were mostly okay; nothing special.

Another issue we encountered was during our speech. The other reception next door had started their music and the sound went right through the dividing walls. Most of our speech was inaudible because of the thin walls.

Overall, the whole experience from start to finish was okay. We suspect the new owners had a big impact on the experience based on how we were treated in 2020 compared to 2022. If food is important to your event, we would say this hall is probably going to live up to expectations. However, make sure to be very specific when negotiating exactly what you want and expect for your event and ensure to have everything written down.
