The planning went well and the lady I dealt with in the planning stages was great. Day of, communication from the planning team and the operations team fell short. Lots of items we had agreed and discussed had not been done properly creating extra expenses on our end. Things in our wedding contract that were to be provided by Hudson, were not available on the day of. The servers were super green and had no idea how to serve, taking peoples food away before they were done, not serving people the right meals etc. This is disappointing as like most venues, there is automatic gratuity. They did compensate us with a $300 gift card to their restaurant (less than 1% of our bill 😊) -

It is difficult to find a venue in Calgary that both elegant, and fits 250+ guests. Hudson is a gorgeous venue in the heart of downtown Calgary with so much to offer! The food was amazing, the event staff was so lovely to work with! -

My wife and I chose the Hudson to be our Wedding Reception of approx 200 guests and this did not disappoint. First of all, this is priced reasonably well compared to other venues we have looked at. The Loft area is beautiful by itself with the ceiling chandelier/lighting, very comfy and elegant seats, rounds tables with linens all provided for by Hudson. We did not need a lot of decors as the place was beautiful enough. There is a bridal suite available and also a cocktail hour hallway separate from the main reception area, which are just fancy. Everything about the Hudson Loft screams elegance. Aside from this, what stood out more is 1) the professionalism and prompt communication of the event specialists/coordinators (Bonnie/Wendy/Charm). Bonnie was our main event specialist and she was very patient with every small revision we made and was very strategic in planning our the reception; she was very approachable and just a lovely person. They all took care of us very well and their passion and commitment to their client's success is something every vendor should aspire to; 2) our food was amazing and we received a lot of praises of how good the food was from canapes, appetizer, entree (chicken/beef/vegetarian), and dessert - kudos to the chef and the kitchen crew!!; 3) the bartenders were awesome (special shoutout to Jackson who was great with me and my guests) and also the servers staff - you guys just smiled all the way and are super friendly to us.

The Hudson was a beautiful venue for a summer wedding. From the beautiful view in the ballroom to the night life on Stephen avenue and the spectacular food from O&B chefs.
They navigated covid well and remained flexible with us and made our day absolutely perfect. -

If I could offer Hudson 0 stars I would in a heartbeat. We hired them in July of 2019 to host our July 2020 wedding. We should have seen their lack of hospitality from day one but we were excited and shrugged over a few things. Email responses would take forever, some times we were waiting 3-5 days to get a simple yes or no response. It took us two weeks to coordinate with Chrissy to even drop off the deposit, and on the day of my fiancé called her to let her know we were there and she said to just give it to the reception at the Guild (imagine a company telling you to drop off $2,500 to a random at a restaurant they are affiliated with). After that they said they would contact us early march to do a taste testing so, we didn't have to hear from them for a while. However, February of 2020, I get an email saying they missed to inform us that our first payment was due which was fine with us but it took them 2 months to realize they didn't do their job. Except, I was traveling and so I told my fiancé to drop of the cheque. Little did we know COVID was on its way in a week and we were going to get screwed over. They got the payment immediately and then we began to receive emails of how they are pushing the taste testing and then Calgary went into lockdown and businesses were closed well after our wedding date. SO IN SHORT: they have our money, we got zero services, and we were the ones at loss. Since we knew covid was going to be around we asked for our money back as the contract was frustrated and did not want a wedding anymore. We only wanted the first payment back not the hall deposit. We got a NO. They came back a few times, and we did not accept. After 3 months of back and forth and mental drainage we sat down face to face with Matt and tried to have a proper conversation. He went back to the big boss, got us a "better" deal and we were so drained we accepted, and thought to ourselves we would have them cater if we ever had a celebration for our marriage. Its been another 3 months since we accepted the deal. We have not received our money, even though Matt said "it will be coming [our] way ASAP" and its just more and more frustration. I really regret even giving this company a chance. They are crooks, dishonest, lazy, incompetent and over all dont have your best interest at heart. This review comes after over a year of dealing with them and seeing all the errors and lack of care they've put into a customer. They've lost out on a client, on money, and on a good review. I was so excited to host my wedding there, but in the end I'm happy this happened because who knows what my wedding day would have looked like in their hands.

We loved working with Jenni. Her and her team made our wedding on Aug 18 2018 so smooth. We had lots of questions and requests as we had our tea ceremony, ceremony and reception at the Hudson. The schedule and organization was top notch. We even comments after the tasting about the food and they delivered! Thank you to Hudson and the team for hosting us, it was so great
