Amazing :)

our day was nothing short of magical! Cornerstone did have to change our coordinator about a month before the wedding but it honestly ended up being a blessing. We worked with Maren and she was absolutely amazing. Super informative, from the first message she sent me I was blown away by how much detail and care she put into her work! Our wedding turned out absolutely perfect and we are so grateful for everything the staff at cornerstone did for us. They were an absolute delight! I would also highly recommend using their in-house DJ, he was awesome and made sure we had a good time!

Rollercoaster

Our experience with Cornerstone was a mix of emotions, good and bad. There seems to be an issue with their staff retention and your experience will heavily depend on which wedding coordinator you get. Over the course of our planning, we were switched to 4 different coordinators, our last one being introduced to us 2 weeks away from our wedding day. Having to re-explain everything over and over was stressful, and learning that previous details had not been recorded was frustrating. Another thing we had to cope with was learning only 2 weeks away that there would be a sports event occuring at the Nordic Centre on our wedding day, so planning around that last minute on top of everything else was not fun. Despite all of this, our final wedding coordinator was responsive and committed to working with us to ameliorate concerns and make sure our day worked out as we wanted. The day of was absolutely perfect, decor laid out as we envisoned, zero issues and everyone having a lovely time in a beautiful setting. A nice perk is that their staff will set up/tear down the decor and you go pick it up the next day, which is very hassle free. So this rating/review is a weird one for me because in the end it all worked out after a difficult journey... Cornerstone clearly has the ability to deliver a great experience but there seems to be some internal issues they need to keep working out.

Don’t book here

I wouldn’t recommend booking your wedding with Cornerstone. My fiancé and I chose the Nordic Centre, we paid our deposit and were given the payment schedule for the remainder of the balance.
Fast forward to November when we chose to postpone another year just because of the uncertainty of Covid and the restrictions.
We weren’t comfortable spending $5000-$7000 on a wedding that was limited to the government restrictions of 10 people. And continue to pay for these deposits during the lockdowns.
After we figured out the new date, I messaged them to book it and they required another $1000 deposit and refused to accept the money they already took.
We never received a walk-through or any service for that matter. So $700 is now gone because they refuse to work with couples through this pandemic. It’s extremely disappointing and I’m honestly quite disgusted that businesses are taking peoples hard earned money in times like this.
I’ve rescheduled my photographer, DJ and hair and makeup, all no problem and were able to work with me and use the deposits we already paid for.
I recommend couples look elsewhere and don’t support companies like this.

Not what we expected

Beautiful venue! The scenery is unbelievable and to begin with the staff were brilliant HOWEVER 3 days before the wedding we found out that our ceremony space was a construction site. Cornerstone told us they’d been trying to contact us to tell us about it for weeks (which wasn’t true) and then said they had only known about it for a couple of days? Doesn’t make sense. That issue was resolved and we got over it. We were looking forward to the big day despite the hiccups - the staff gave us their word that our day would still be perfect. The day came and it was nothing but chaos! Completely unorganized, chaotic, no one knew where to go or what to do, it just felt like a big mess. Things were being packed away by the staff before the night was over such as our candy bar and card box so when one of our guests went to put a card in the box, the box was gone, so one of the bar staff took the card and promised it would be placed with the others - it was not! That card had $200 in and cornerstone say they don’t have it. Really upset and not the vision I had for the last 2 years.

Too Many Surprises

While the Canmore Nordic Centre location is gorgeous, if I had to do it all again, I would've gone with the Kananaskis Lodge, which has just as nice views, and, I now believe, would've been a much better experience in general (incidentally, they were fully booked). The first surprise I got with Cornerstone Weddings was the cost; I was given an estimate of $1800 when I first went there, but the final total ended up being $2400. I'm not exactly sure how you can justify that kind of money for simply an arch and some chairs (I hired my own DJ). I had asked for a welcome table and was told they couldn't help me, I'd have to bring my own. But not to be outdone, there was another surprise in store for me. I had asked right from the beginning, when I first went out to visit the site, about what kind of arch I would get, and that this was a very important item for me. I said I wanted the arch as shown on the Cornerstone website, and I was ASSURED that this would be the arch I'd get. I tried contacting Cornerstone about 6 weeks before the wedding, wondering who would be working directly with me at the Nordic Centre (again, I wanted to confirm about the arch and general set-up) and I was told that the person would contact me about 4 weeks before the event (in other words, stop phoning). About 3 weeks before my wedding, the planner contacts me. She's very nice and all, however, when I ask about the arch, she tells me that I won't be getting the arch like on the website, because now they only have this triangular one. Really?? Not happy. So I call up Special Events Rentals (where I had placed my big order about 5 months earlier) to see if I could still get a wooden rectangular arch, and they say sorry, we had one 5 months ago, but not anymore; all they have now is a gold metal circular one (and by now my wedding is less then 2 weeks away). I just go ahead with that, but the bottom line is, the whole thing gave me all this extra stress that I def didn't need, plus I had to pay an extra $200 for an arch that was supposed to be included. Like I said, too many surprises. I think the basic problem is the lack of communication/collaboration, because you have these two different outfits trying to coordinate things, Cornerstone Weddings and Canmore Nordic Centre.

Abby did a great job!

Everything was put together very well. The Ceasars bar was awesome! I highly recommend. The food and cheesecake were delicious! Abby and the staff helped us lots. Our dj didn't show up so someone from Cornerstone helped us with the music for the ceremony and the important dances. They went above and beyond.

Amazing find of a venue!!

Cornerstone was incredibly helpful right from the beginning from when we toured the venue to the day after our wedding when we did our decor pick up and paid the bar bill. I can’t say enough great things about their wedding coordinator, Jessica. She made the entire planning process stress free and helped with so many things leading up to the wedding and the day of. The communication was awesome, and any concerns I had were well taken care of. There was a small mix up with our open bar and they were quick to remedy this when we went to pay the bar bill.
Not to mention the food and dessert were delicious. All of our guests loved it.
The mezzanine area was just amazing for our small intimate wedding. It was a very nice space to hang out with all of our guests while they flipped the room.
This place is a hidden gem in terms of getting married in the mountains. Quiet, amazing views, fantastic staff. Highly recommend!

Amazing in everyway way! Recommend 100%

My dream wedding was always the mountains, and I finally had that. We had our ceremony outdoors at Tree Island and it was beautiful!

The experience prior was great! Kate replied to my every email with questions and concerns with no hesitation. She set up a food tasting, and plan meeting in July which was nice to do!

Kate and her team were awesome, and made my bridal party feel so comfortable and make sure they all walked down the isle on their que. She was also nice enough to use her phone for our ceremony songs.

Then, the reception at The Nordic Centre.
I absolutely LOVED the way the reception was decorated, it was more then I ever expected. Again, Kate and her team were so nice and helpful through the whole thing, and I didn’t have to stress at all. The food was amazing, the welcome drinks were a perfect touch at the beginning, everyone had so much fun and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to have our wedding.
I highly recommend Cornerstone wedding!

Would Hire Again In a Heartbeat!

Amazing even with a pandemic. They had the most customizable options for decor rentals out of all the other venues we looked at. They're view and food was amazing and guests couldn't get enough! Their prices were fair and didn't break the bank. We would recommend to anyone!

Hallowedding - October 31, 2020

My now husband, Darren, and I booked Cornerstone Weddings at the Canmore Nordic Centre last year for our big day this past October 31.
When we first started looking at and hiring vendors, we had no idea that a few months later we would enter a pandemic.
There has been a lot of up and down emotions this year when it came to planning our wedding. But one thing we could count on was Harry, from Cornerstone Weddings, frequent updates and reassurance that everything was going to work out. We cannot express enough how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to work with Harry and his team. Everyone was quick to respond to emails or phone calls with any questions or concerns that we had. We were continuously updated on health and safety changes and obstacles that we would need to work around.
The evening before our wedding we dropped off all decor and did a quick run through with Harry on how our big day was going to play out.
When our day arrived, we had no idea how everything was going to look, the Cornerstone team set everything up for us. And we cannot express enough how incredibly impressed we were with the look of everything.
When it came to the food we had multiple comments from guests about how good the food was. Comments ranged from "The food was so good!" to "This is the best food I've ever had at a wedding!" and we could not agree more.
Cornerstone weddings at the Canmore Nordic Centre will definitely be recommended to friends and family as an amazing place to host an event.
Thank you so much to the entire team!
You all did an amazing job.
