In the heart of Gastown lies historic Gaoler’s Mews; now home to L'Abattoir's Private Dining Room. Separate from the restaurant and accessed by a courtyard, the lovingly-preserved, original brick-and-beam private building exudes warmth and charm while sleek glass and steel finishings give the space a contemporary, sophisticated ambiance. Upon entering through the main floor open kitchen, the sounds and smells created by our team of talented Chefs generate a behind-the-scenes atmosphere of anticipation, impressing passing guests en route to the second floor private dining space.

Upstairs is awash with natural light by day and illuminated by barbed wire chandeliers come nightfall. The six hundred square foot space can be left open or, depending on the size and style of your event, divided by noise reducing wooden walls. For a more intimate engagement, each side has its own private entrance and seats up to twenty four guests; the open space can accommodate a maximum of fifty seated guests or a standing reception of up to seventy guests. A gathering in L'Abattoir's Private Dining Room is a carefully orchestrated yet seemingly effortless affair. Refined, indulgent, memorable.

A wonderful wedding experience

Lainey and the rest of the team at L'Abattoir went above and beyond for our wedding. We held our ceremony and reception there in May 2023 and everything was just perfect. From the day we viewed the venue, until we left the reception, the staff treated us with a professionalism and kindness that went above and beyond. Not only did they help us organize our day, but they were just as excited for us to walk down the aisle as we were. Our guests raved about the space, and several mentioned that it was the best meal they've ever had. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an intimate wedding.

Wonderful venue

We are extremely happy we chose L’abattoir for our wedding reception. The stuff was amazing, their professionalism was exceptional starting with the planning. They paid attention to every little detail and made sure that everything is perfect on the wedding day. The communication was very smooth. The dinner itself was great, they made everyone feel special. Food was spectacular as always, our guest were very happy, even the kids! Bartender and servers were exceptionally attentive to everyone. Special thank you to Blair, he took care of the issue that unexpectedly happened momentarily! Overall everything was great, we highly recommend this restaurant !

The perfect wedding celebration

We chose L’Abattoir because of its reputation for private dining experiences in Vancouver. We were blown away by the professionalism, organization, and service. Our guests were highly impressed by the food, drinks, atmosphere and staff. It was the perfect intimate setting that we were looking for to celebrate our marriage. We can’t wait to return to L’Abattoir every year for our anniversary dinner, simply because it set the bar so high and left such a special memory for us :)

Absolutely sensational!

Working with the team at L’Abattoir for our wedding was the best experience! They were always friendly, welcoming, and had all the answers to my many questions.
When it came times to the wedding day, truly, not one thing went wrong. They were kind and thoughtful and it truly seemed as though every person there really loved what they were doing! The whole night ran so smoothly and the energy from the staff was definitely infectious! :)
The venue itself was stunning! We didn’t use/need to have too many decorations, as the space had its own unique atmosphere. Bricks and wood, very rustic but also incredibly romantic!!
We truly could not have picked a more perfect place for us to get married!
Every moment of the night was spent in love and happiness and joy!

Wedding at L'Abbatoir

We had the best experience at L'Abbatoir! We went there once for a site visit and the rest of the planning was through email. The Events Team were so responsive and everything went well!! Food was amazing and we're all satisfied with the service!

Great value, simple, and everyone was a pleasure to work with!

Working with L'abattoir was a simple and painless process. They were on top of their communications to us, flexible whenever we had any last-minute additions within reason and the day of staff were friendly and accommodating.

We would be happy to have another event at L'abattoir again. Food was great and service was top notch.

Kelly and Jacob's Wedding

Everything went well with the help of every staff member of L'Abattoir's team. Although we wish the food would come a little more faster, they tasted amazing as I expected to be. For the bread, I thought we would be getting the ones like when we were dining in the restaurant but there might be miscommunication in between. It would be nice to have different sort of bread if that's an option because this is one of the reason why I chose this restaurant. Overall, I would say everyone enjoyed the service and food. Jacob and I will be back for our anniversary day next time, and would love to experience sitting in the Atrium. Thanks again!

Sales and Events Manager

Lainey is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to hospitality and events and has been applying her expertise to L’Abattoir’s Private Dining Room events since 2015.

After finishing her Tourism and Hospitality education in the lower mainland, Lainey spent much of her early career in the Okanagan working at Mission Hill Family Estate as their Food and Beverage Coordinator. She spent her time learning all about the local wine industry alongside planning events from large corporate gatherings and concerts to intricate multi-course winery dinners.

Her passion for hospitality brought her back to Vancouver where she joined the opening team at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar. While refining her skills even further and sharpening her wine knowledge, she also helped set the high standards of service that guests continue to enjoy today.

When Lainey joined the team at L’Abattoir, she brought her high standards and trained her private dining team to match the level of service that L’Abattoir guests had come to expect at one of the top restaurants in the country. She’s been integral in creating a private dining experience in Vancouver that is second to none.

After training her service team, Lainey moved into the Sales and Events Manager role where she can be found today. She is absolutely meticulous and covers every detail with her clients to ensure nothing is missed and an unforgettable experience is had by every guest.
