The most spectacular micro wedding!

We are so grateful to Jessica and the entire team at the Fogo Island Inn for hosting us for our micro wedding.

We were looking for a one of a kind, intimate experience for our closest friends and family. The Inn went above and beyond to deliver top notch service and food for the wedding and throughout our stay.

This was a truly exceptional experience and we couldn’t have dreamed of anything more!

To anyone who is thinking about booking their wedding (or a vacation) at the Inn, I would highly recommend it.

Our Elopement at the Fogo Island Inn

Jen and I eloped at the Fogo Island Inn and could not be more happy. From the moment our helicopter touched down, we knew we were in for a unique and special experience. As our stay unfolded, we kept pinching ourselves. It was so good, it was almost hard to believe it was real!

As you spend time at the Inn, it is obvious that a tremendous amount of thought has gone into every detail. If you love design, you will love the Inn. If you love nature, you will love the Inn. If you love feeling taken care of, you will love the Inn.

Without exception, everyone at the Inn was lovely. They didn't feel like staff, they felt like new friends - new friends who were willing to do whatever it took to make our stay memorable.

The food bears special mention. Local ingredients coupled with time honored techniques resulted in an extraordinary culinary experience. Not only was everything delicious, but the meals left us feeling connected to the local culture and the island itself - something neither Jen nor I had ever felt before. Hats off to Tim, Andrew, Kim and the whole team.

All the details around our actual wedding were handled expertly and the ceremony itself was just perfect. Quiet, simple, meaningful. It was exactly what we wanted.

Fogo Island Inn offers an unparalleled destination and experience. It is adventure. It is luxury. It is thoughtful connection to the island. It was the perfect place, the perfect way, to start our adventure as husband and wife. Our hearts are full!

Truly life-changing

I can't even begin to sum up what it is to be married at the Fogo Island Inn, except to say it is life-changing. While we were there, I described it as feeling like we were being adopted into an incredibly warm, kind, resourceful family, resulting in healing for myself, my husband, and our guests that we didn't even realize we needed. Fogo Island Inn is a gorgeous building in a stunning location that feels like a mix of Maine and Ireland, but what makes the experience is the people who you meet and who help you throughout your stay. The people are warmer than anyone I've ever met, organized but not strict, accommodating while still maintaining an environment that is comfortable for everyone. They knew guests by name, tracked individuals' preferences, and anticipated requests. We traveled with our parents, a couple of our closest friends, and their three-year-old daughter. Everyone - every single person - felt that the experience had astronomically exceeded every expectation, from picking our own floral bouquets to the mind-blowing seafood reception dinner, lovely live music, and little touches. I can't recommend the Inn enough. We are so excited to have the family of the Inn as a part of our story and are aching for our next visit.

The best wedding destination imaginable

It's hard to put into words how special Fogo Island Inn was to host our wedding. From the epic location, to stunning accommodations, top notch food + beverage, thoughtful guest experience - it was beyond our wildest dreams. Most importantly, the service we received and the people we worked with was nothing I have every experienced before. The entire staff leading up to the big event and during the two-day buy out when we accommodated all of our guests went above and beyond to make everything happen so seamlessly. The staff at the Inn treat you like family. They genuinely care about your experience and want you to enjoy yourself to the fullest. I would tell anyone even considering to have their wedding there to DO IT. All of our family and friends are still raving about the event, though many of them had to travel far and wide to make it happen. It's worth the travel and coordination and we will celebrate anniversaries at the Inn in years to come.

Stepping into another dimension...

Fogo Island Inn is luxurious. It is an understated luxury that is focussed on local traditions, culture and community. It truly feels like you are being welcomed by long-lost relatives you never knew you had.

With the Inn being 30 ft wide and 300 ft long, you get this feeling of being on a ship. To add to that illusion, the landscape changes dramatically from one moment to the next, feeling like you are slowly floating across the edge of the world.

The inn's staff provide a warm and genuine hospitality that comes from a local. Not the cold ninja-like precision and perfection version of hospitality of other 5 star hotels.

Food & Beverage is second to none in Canada, with executive chef Jonathan Gushue at the helm. Again, I have to bring in the people and community aspect of the Inn. Our guests spent time with Nicole, the pastry chef that baked our cake, to learn about jam jarring and preserves. Some other guests craving for more even had time with Jonathan himself to talk about the food philosophy of the Inn and traditional ways they preserve food in this time of year. It this connection with the service staff that elevates the experience here that makes it more personal and authentic.

The Inn had struck a nearly perfect balance between stitching old world traditions with contemporary (might I say modern) philosophies of today. You're left dumbfounded at the care absolutely everything at the inn represents.

The planning aspect was very professional and responsive. As we never toured the venue before, the staff was great at providing input and ideas to make our day the best it could be. Incredibly flexible in non-traditional requests when it comes to the schedule, activities and food/beverage.

The Inn surprised us with extras that were meaningful, not just for the sake of "extras". Many guests loved the aprons they wore during the cooking demo, and the Inn was able to provide guests with a surprise apron in their departure bags as a gift. Florals and decor were brought in but maintained the minimalist feel that Michael and I were looking for.

The magical experience at the Inn is truly the most remarkable place to hold your wedding. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves Canada, would like the money they spend on their wedding to go to a good cause, and understands that sometimes you have to get away to the edge of the world to pay attention to your heart and the people you love.

BTW, the cost is really just the cost of the rooms, there are no additional charges...

November elopement

The Fogo Island Inn was the location for our November elopement.

Stunning ocean views, crashing waves and a never ending coastline was the back drop for our ceremony. The staff made sure everything went off perfectly. Wood burning stoves, a special cake made by the pastry chef, champagne after our ceremony, they could not do enough for us. Moreover, staff paid exceptional attention to our needs. Mention something that you really liked and they never forgot it. We could not get over how much they knew about us as a couple only after meeting everyone for a few moments.

The Inn itself is beautiful. High ceilings, contemporary yet tastefully decorated with pops of colour and Newfoundland accents. Such a warm and inviting place to experience. Ample places to relax and just enjoy the moment.

Dining was superb. We arrived to a lovely lunch, had a full seven courses for dinner and a hearty breakfast the next morning. Again, they were very in tune to likes/dislikes and made sure we were enjoying all courses. Wine and bar service was also phenomenal. Lovely selection of wines.

Fresh juices, coffee and pastry selection outside your door every morning to start the day. Enjoyed over ocean views from our room and a wood burning stove. We literally sat there for an hour sipping coffee and reminiscing how perfect this moment actually was. The room was laid out really well. Amenities and linens were of the best quality. Very comfortable and cozy.

Overall, we cannot express how amazing our day was. A dream come true, a perfect place, surrounded by such lovely people. We left feeling like family. Would recommend Fogo Island Inn for any occasion!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Fogo Island, the Inn, and the entire staff. We looked at this spot initially because of the gorgeous and rugged location and stunning architecture. We found we were even more drawn to the incredibly nice people, welcoming nature, quirky traditions, and an indescribable luxurious but homey feel that you can only find at the Inn. The food is also some of the best we've ever tasted - and the quality was maintained even when scaled to nearly 70 guests for the entire weekend! We also were inspired by the ecological and cultural preservation movement that the Inn is spearheading. It felt great to be contributing to the effort to revitalize and maintain such a special community.

It can be difficult planning a wedding at the "ends of the earth" from a distance, but the Inn's staff were amazing. They executed everything we asked for perfectly and seamlessly, and thought of many small and thoughtful touches that would never have even occurred to us. They also made us feel very special, and truly a part of their family. In short, this is a magical place and we are very lucky to have found it.

The perfect way to get married

I can’t put into words how special our elopement at the inn was. It’s a magical place with beautiful people and an intimacy that I don’t think could possibly be matched any other way. I will never forget how beautiful and special our day (and our stay) was with the Inn.

What an amazing experience

My husband and I eloped at the Inn in October, 2021. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. The team at Fogo made us feel so special at every turn, answered all of our questions and made our wedding day and stay at the Inn so wonderful.

Fogo Island Inn is a spectacular place for a weeding.

Fogo Island Inn was an absolutely spectacular and peaceful "place") to get married. We were married there, just out front of the property by the ocean and it is something we will always remember. The service was above and beyond and there was nothing they could or would not do for us as the catered to our every need. It was mid September and the weather was perfect. We relive the trip and event each time we look at the photos and cannot wait to return.

Executive Chef

As the Executive Chef, I lead Fogo Island Inn's culinary team. We use ingredients dictated by Fogo Island’s still-wild world to create dishes that are grounded in this place. Changing daily and with our seven seasons, the dining menu reflects the region: perched in the Labrador current, our subarctic landscape is bounded on all sides by the rich North Atlantic.

Here, food is the medium through which nature and culture come together to form an absolute expression of locality. Tasked with representing Fogo Island’s foodways through contemporary cuisine, our kitchen team adds human knowledge to natural offerings to reflect a place-specific identity tangled up in food.
