Winter Dream Wedding

There are truly no words that best describe the most amazing experience we had at a Bear and Bison Country Inn. I arrived on my birthday and walked in feeling so incredibly welcomed. Our guests felt so comfortable and "at home". Lonny and Brooke made sure all the wedding details were covered and I was able to relax and enjoy my time before our big day. Our room was so comfortable and romantic, the views were incredible, and don't even get me started on
Lonny's food-WOW! Everyone raved the food, the venue, the views, the hospitality, and the whole experience. We cannot wait to come back for our anniversary and plan to every year. It hold such a special place in our hearts now, and we have them to thank. I got my winter wedding dream come true, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND a Bear and Bison Country Inn to EVERYONE! Its a bride's dream to be able to walk away with no regrets and only the most memorable life long memories.

Absolutely Magical

Having our wedding here was by far and away the best decision we made while planning our wedding. The responsiveness and warmth from the staff alone made us know right away that this was the place for us. Not only did they help with planning and organization so much, everyone was a delight to work with during the entire process. We quite literally felt like royalty on our wedding weekend and all the details were taken care of throughout. My husband and I felt so at ease and we truly got to enjoy every bit of it because of it. The venue is at an incredible location in such a beautiful part of the world. The entire backdrop of the day was gorgeous. The wedding planner and team made our day a dream by setting EVERYTHING up and taking it all down so the wedding party and guests could relax and just stay in the moment. The food was absolutely outstanding. And that is an understatement. My husband and I said we wouldn't mind crashing a wedding being had there just to have that incredible dinner again. We cannot wait to come back periodically and enjoy to amazing breakfasts, comfy beds, and heavenly coffee. We are so lucky to have had our dream of a wedding day at this gem of a venue. We opted to rent the entire inn, and it was such a delight. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect Family Wedding Venue

We are so happy that we booked our wedding with the Bear & Bison Inn! The venue is beautiful and has so much character, with great views and very comfortable rooms. The food was excellent, especially our wedding meal – everyone loved it! The team was very accommodating of dietary restrictions and really made an effort to make us all feel at home. Brooke was incredibly helpful and organized, and the entire planning process felt seamless and stressfree.

Thanks so much to Lonny, Brooke, and their team for everything!

Perfect wedding

We had our wedding here June 24,2023.
We had 37 guests and rented out the inn
The service was honestly first class. I spend hours worrying about our wedding and trying to make it perfect. Lonely & brook handled everything seamlessly. With a few minor blips in the day they seemed to have it all covered before anyone even knew. Brook was so attentive and constantly checking in on me and ensuring I had everything I needed. With a quick blink she would come with Bobbie pins or pin needles, and scissors.
The service staff were attentive at every meal and had everything running smooth
We had the casual bbq the first night and a sit down dinner for the wedding. The food was outstanding. Better then we could have imagined.
We couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect wedding and can’t thank the entire staff enough for helping us with our amazing day.

June Wedding at Bear & Bison

We cannot say enough good things about A Bear and Bison Inn! It absolutely exceeded all our expectations. We planned our 45-person wedding from out-of-province (sight unseen!), and Brooke and Lonny made it very smooth for us. The entire weekend went on without a hitch, and we were able to just enjoy the experience without any stress.

The food was incredible. We hosted a welcome dinner (casual BBQ menu) on Friday evening, and chose the Silver Service Tapas (international menu) for our Saturday wedding reception. Each dish was delicious, and Lonny took into account all our guests' dietary requirements (allergies, vegetarian, Halal, etc). It made each guest feel very welcome and taken care of! We were worried about not doing a seated dinner, but they made sure that there was enough seating for everyone to relax and enjoy their meal. Luckily, we were blessed with gorgeous weather, so we could take advantage of both the outdoor and indoor space. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour, and tapas dinner outside, then moved inside for dessert and dancing. If you're hesitant about doing the tapas-style dinner, let me reassure you that it will be amazing! The breakfasts for guests were absolutely delicious! Like, I'm still thinking about the breakfasts. So good.

We had our ceremony at the gazebo, which was decorated with simple seasonal flowers. You don't need much, as the outdoor space is gorgeous in and of itself. With the trees and bushes surrounding the outdoor area, you feel very sheltered from the road and neighbouring properties.

The rooms were very cozy and clean! We had our baby with us, so we needed a room that could be made dark and quiet during our reception. The top floor rooms have large skylight-style windows that don't have blinds, and room #7 on the lower floor is right under the reception room, so we avoided those rooms. If you or any of your guests have babies or young children that need to go to bed early, I would recommend a room on the main (middle) floor, as this floor has a fire door to muffle reception sound, but it doesn't have the large skylight windows that the upper floor has. We brought a white noise machine and blackout curtains that suction cupped to the windows, and our baby slept great!

All in all, A Bear & Bison Inn did an incredible job, and we were so so impressed with the weekend. I would absolutely recommend this place for a wedding or vacation. We will be back! Thank you again Lonny and Brooke!!

Perfect Wedding

Our daughter's wedding at A Bear and Bison Inn was amazing. Brooke and Lonny and his staff took care of every detail, large and small from providing names of services (photographer, makeup, hair, etc.) to making sure everyone had room to get ready and were fed to the beautiful fire and ice ceremony! The venue is beautiful and the food was amazing! This was an incredible experience and made for the best wedding!

As magical as we hoped it would be

Brooke, Lonny and all staff were is professional, attentive and gracious at all times over the course of 4-5 days for our small wedding celebration. The food at every breakfast, dinner and throughout our wedding day was absolutely delicious without a complaint from anyone in our group of 6. We went with the fire & ice menu for our wedding reception and had also planned for a late night menu day of wedding but everyone was so stuffed after dessert and the paired wine tastings that it wasn't needed and Lonny's crew was able to just go with the flow so to speak. Service was impeccable and dietary needs were well taken care of. Even when we were missing a key ingredient for a cocktail I had requested earlier in the week the bartender made a point to go out and purchase what was needed before the day of our wedding. We had hoped to have a larger sit down dinner of 18-25 but I believe COVID travel restrictions frightened a number of guests off. Once they began watching our wedding remotely (I hired a vendor for that service) those that could have traveled immediately regretted their decision not to attend just by the ambience of the venue alone. Day of the wedding Brooke was amazing. She was on task at keeping us on schedule and being attentive to any needs that came up throughout the day for myself, the groom and our handful of vendors. Had our more maintenance heavy familiy members shown up, we would have enlisted a family coordinator (15 approximately guests or so vs 6 guests) to deflect any questions from us to the extra coordinator. Perhaps some of our family members are more high maintenance than most, but if you want Brooke on you as the bride and the vendors, you'll need your bestie/maid of honor to assist you and redirect family and in some instances you may consider a person just to redirect high maintenance friends and family. My mother and my husband's father alone could have occupied an additional coordinator just by themselves due to their mobility issues. Again, otherwise you are 100% set for smaller groups for sure, no doubt. You can trust them to help create a warm and inviting atmosphere for intimate gatherings with great food which is exactly what we wanted for our guests as many traveled across the US to get to Canmore for our celebration. Also, their recommendations for evenings out, dining suggestions, make-up artists, sled dog vendors etc were also right on key. We did not get to enjoy the B&B itself as much as we would have liked as a couple so we hope there will be a 5th anniversary return or sooner to enjoy the rooms and hot tub we missed out on but our guests really enjoyed. If you are looking for more of a traditional wedding venue to host a larger party, this is not your venue. If you are looking for the week to be a warm inviting experience for a smaller number of guests 38 or under (38 is the max seating for sit down dinner, they can easily accomodate up to 60+ when serving tapas) but practically speaking 25-30 guests would fit and remain comfortable for a sit down dinner in the main dining area. Absolutely do not hesitate in booking with Lonny & Brooke. We would do it again in a heartbeat! Cheers, Kara & Paul

Winter elopement in Canmore

Brooke (wedding co-ordinator) was wonderful to work with in planning our elopement. She responded to emails quickly and was able to book a marriage commissioner, photographer, order flowers and make the experience warm and welcoming.
The Bear and Bison Inn is amazing!! We stayed in the honeymoon suite which had gorgeous views and a jacuzzi tub. It was -28C on our wedding day but Brooke built a fire by the gazebo to try to keep us warm!! Breakfasts were delicious and brought to our room each morning with freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. We would definetely recommend A Bear and Bison Inn for anyone planning a smaller wedding or elopement.

December 20 2022 cold snap winter wedding

A Bear and Bison Inn exceeded our expectations in every way with The Grand Sorie Fire and Ice Elopement. They made our experience completely stress-free and were so much fun to plan with. The weather did not corporate per se as December 18 was a cold snap for a week and on the day of our wedding it was -36 but we still went ahead with the most incredible outdoor evening wedding. All the staff were helpful, kind and made our 5-day stay incredible. Not to mention the food was tailored to us and was exemplary. We can't thank Lonny, Brooke and all the staff enough for making our wedding so spectacular, magical and memorable. We can't wait to see you all during our anniversary of the year.
