Wedding Nerves

Jessie, on August 21, 2018 at 12:10 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9

Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how to stay calm on the day of the wedding? Even if you haven't had your wedding yet, I'm curious.

I get super nauseous and dizzy when I'm nervous for anything big but this is bigger than anything I've ever done before.

I just need to figure out how to stay calm and actually enjoy the morning of my wedding.

Thanks girls!!

Haha i'm with you there. We were talking about the timeline of our wedding day this weekend and it gave me anxiety and I had to run to the bathroom lol it's funny how your body responds to different stresses

When I'm nervous I have to constantly pee lol. I usually just try to keep myself busy when I'm nervous or excited. Focus my attention elsewhere Smiley smile

That's a neat way to focus on something else, I should try that.

Yeah, I will put that on my check list for my MOH to have, water is definitely needed.. just don't want to have to pee! Lol

I've heard ginger gravol works so I will try that.

I haven't heard about the candy version, that sounds delicious!

Thanks so much Jennifer Smiley smile

Its kinda weird. but always works when i'm really anxious. so you start with a body part, like your hands. squeeze tight and hold for 5 seconds and then release (with a good breath release too). then squeeze in tight your hands and your arms, 5 seconds release. keep doing that till you have literally scrunched your whole body and release. it causes you to focus on something else.

in your case if nauseous and dizzy is a factor. make sure someone has a water bottle handy at your ceremony. and make sure to take ginger gravol and have gingerale. just to keep that at bay. they actually have ginger gravol candy/drop type things.

I am all for those ideas!

I will be with my girls at the hotel the night before as well and getting ready there. I should appoint my MOH to be the go to person in the morning.

I made a spread sheet of the timeline for the entire day to help me and my wedding party, as well as the vendors on time for each step. It does help to have that so I will print off a bunch so we all have them.

I plan on writing a love note for him to read while he's getting ready, I think it's a nice gesture and gets you in that lovey dovey mood!

You are right, in the end we are going to be married so I shouldn't feel nervous about anything. I just want to enjoy every minute of it! Smiley smile

    Thanks so much Clarissa!

I am usually not a very nervous person but I used to have really bad anxiety that still pops up every now and then. I plan on doing some morning yoga and having breakfast brought up to my room and enjoying some alone time (getting ready at the hotel). Yoga and running have been a great way for me to keep my stress and anxiety in check. Also my wedding planner has asked me to appoint one of my bridesmaids as her go to for any little details that come up so I don’t need to be the point person. I would suggest doing the same. Have it be one of the girls (MOH perhaps) and then come up with a day of timeline (with your photographer, hair, and makeup, etc) so you just need to know where to be and when and leave the rest to that point person. I also plan to write a letter to my fiancé with all the reasons I want to marry him and I’m hoping that will take away any residual nerves because at the end of the day being married is all that matters.

So if you have something that helps you deal with your stress and anxiety in your everyday life make sure you find a way to incorporate it into your prep the morning of.

I will try those! Thank you Smiley smile

I totally know what you mean. Being away from each other the whole night and better part of your wedding day mixed with anxiety and nerves is hard. I know he is the one person that I can focus on to keep me calm.

Lists are how I have kept myself from panicking all this time haha that's great, thank you Smiley smile

    Stress ball! And gum.

I have severe anxiety to the point of panic attacks and crying... it doesn't help that I won't have my FH to go to when getting ready Smiley atonished

I also suggest making lists. These help put everything into perspective for me Smiley smile
