Veil Care

Liana, on September 15, 2019 at 15:25 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 12
I just bought a plain, cathedral veil from a sample sale. I didn't think about asking how to take care of the veil til the wedding day. Can you share tips/ways to store and take care of the veil?

It's folded packed in a clear Ziploc-like bag from the store.

I have a Cathedral veil also, and I just bought a big box from winners (super cute, its white and has LOVE written on it) and just lightly folded my veil in it. I covered it with white tissue paper. I think the lid has a magnet in it to keep it closed. I almost got a box from Whitebox & CO because they're so pretty and customized, and actually not that expensive.

If the veil is wrinkled later on, just fold them nicely and hang it on the hanger and spray with water the day before the wedding and let it dry. It can straighten the veil.

My cathedral is folded up in a bag too!

A week before, I'm gonna hang it up and let the folds undo. My parents have a portable steamer so we are going to use the lowest setting to get the more stubborn folds out.

Also, steaming while you take a shower works equally well for veils as it does dresses.

Mine is also in a ziplock. I would say just keep it out of direct sunlight to avoid messing with the colour of it.

A lot of veil makers suggest hanging it on a hanger away from pets. If you have a ways to go until your wedding, definitely cover it in a cotton/muslin bag, sheet or pillow case.

Everything that I read says to either store your dress/veil in an archival safe acid- and lignin-free box and tissue or hang your items in a 100% cotton bag... I have mine with my dress at the store so I'm not sure how they are storing it - but I would assume that putting it in a clean box with tissue paper would work? lol Best bet is to contact whatever store you bought your dress from and ask what they would recommend.
