Tungsten/titanium Wedding Band Quality

Jon, on December 6, 2019 at 01:02 Posted in Before the wedding 0 7

I'm looking to purchase several Tungsten or Titanium wedding bands of various sizes for myself (male). I found two that are very affordable and I am wondering if there is anything I should know about a financially cheaper Tungsten/Titanium wedding band. In addition, is there anything specific I should ask the seller to get a better idea of the quality of the ring? Topics I am thinking of are:

- quality/purity of metal

- polish/plating of ring

My wedding band will spend most of its life either on a necklace worn around my neck, in a ring container on my desk, or occasionally on my finger during special occasions.

Titanium: $24 USD https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32259597574.html

Tungsten: $12 USD https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32826888806.html

Will you wear something non metal the rest of the time? I had been looking at metal bands for my fiance but he wants a silicone ring. We bought one from enso on Black Friday. He was worried about ring evulsion with a metal ring so silicone works best for him.

I'm not sure about tungsten, but I do think there are different grades of titanium, I just don't know how much it matters. For example, I know there is airplane grade titanium but I don't actually know what it means in terms of composition.
I bought my husband several different titanium rings (he works with his hands and his fingers change size depending on what he is doing). We bought from Caveman Bands on Etsy and the rings are beautiful.

So it sounds to me that I shouldn't be concerned with the quality of a titanium/tungsten wedding band between different manufacturers? A cheaper titanium/tungsten band will be just as durable as a more expensive band?

Where do you get tungsten resized? I've heard that it can't be due to the hardness of it. Do you have to go to a specialist or something?

I bought my fiance a tungsten ring off Etsy at $40, originally $80. Unfortunately (and I had a feeling about this) tungsten sometimes fits differently for whatever reason compared to other material bands. So I had to return the original and now the new one is in the mail, so hopefully this new one fits. So be careful when choosing size if you're not 100% sure and my advice would be to wait til you have it and the size is correct before engraving it since the majority of places won't take it back if you do. But since you won't be wearing it 24/7 that might not be as big of an issue.
