Get the big stuff like venue, theme, DJ if your doing that, officiant, the dress etc out of the way first.

It was 9 months from our engagement to our wedding. If anyone could do it frugally, it was me. The least expensive way to get married is at city hall and have a restaurant reception. We didn't choose this because city hall is only open Monday to Friday. We did our wedding for under $6000.00 but that was with only 32 people. Here are some things I did to keep costs down.

    a) kept to a small guest list with only immediate family and close friends

    b) bought an tea length ivory lace dress on sale at a regular clothing store (cost $45.00)

    c) searched kijiji for inexpensive photographer and DJ ($260 and $240 respectively)

    d) found an inexpensive officiant online and checked reviews ($250)

    e) my wedding band was from his grandmother (free), and his was ordered online ($100.00)

    f) he wore his own suit that he bought a couple of years ago

    g) made our bouquets from dollar store flowers and thrift shop ribbon

    h) center pieces were made from Varage Sale vases ($12.00) and Costco roses ($44.00)

    i) venue was where we spent our money - golf course with huge buffet at $82.00 per person, ceremony space was $250.00

    j) also splurged on music with classical guitarist (3 hours for $425.00) and singer for ceremony ($150.00).

    k) We had an open bar and that quickly added up to about $500 so I wouldn't recommend that. I should have just had wine on the table and a couple of drink tickets for each person but my husband didn't want to look cheap.

Thank you for the tip. I'm hoping I will be able to view the venue soon.

    Hi Amy! Congrats!! Smiley diamond

Short engagement are totally doable, it's all about prioritization!! Prioritize and be decisive and you'll be all set Smiley smile

Do you have a venue booked? That's the first step! Once you have your venue locked down then I'd try to book the rest of your wedding vendors ASAP!
