Never too soon, I would start looking as soon as you have an idea of what your dress will look like. Depending how many are in your bridal party, you may have to resolve some disagreements.

We had them picked out online 10 months before but the girls didn’t order them until 4 months out bc they ship so fast! (2-3 weeks).

We will be going about 8.5 months in advance, my mom and MOH both live in another province so I will be wedding dress shopping the same day.

Since borhe and all my bridesmaids live in different city's and me in a diff province. We will have to do it sooner and differently. At the 12-10 month mark I will start checking out stores to get ideas and codes for colours and fabric. Once I make my decision I'll give them the codes and they can go out and get their dress with the colour and fabric I picked. Before they all make a purchase I'll have them send me pictures so I can make sure they match and look good together. So we still start early but most start around 8-6 months. Never too early if you want to start right away.

We started shopping a few weeks into the engagement haha!! I'm waiting for my flowers to get in so we can match to a swatch at David's bridal and go from there!
My wedding is in May next year and once we get the colour down (hopefully by this summer) I've given my girls till the end of the year to get theirs ordered!

We looked early and new the style that we wanted but they waited to order. We ended up using an online company for dresses because my bridesmaids are scattered around Ontario.

6 month mark is good. i'm going to message my bridal party and see what works better for them with lots of notice (going to message soon and ask if November or January is better budget wise). January gives us just over 6 months.

I say the 6 month mark if you already know what color you want and length.

My girls ordered their dresses 5 months in advance, but we started shopping at 8 months (my girls tried on more dresses than I did). We ended up ordering them online and they came in in about 6 weeks.

If you’re getting married in “peak” wedding season, I’d say earlier is better anyways, as the dresses will take longer to come in. If you find something you love, go for it! Just keep in mind that once they’re paid for, you’re not likely going to be able to switch anything. So make sure you’re 100% about the colours and length and style.

I had a short engagement (9 months), so we went right away. I was told the dresses would come in 4 months, but almost all of my bridesmaids got them within two weeks, which was crazy impressive! We went to David's Bridal. I took two of my bridesmaids as the others were too far to come. I made sure they could all either order online or have a store near them to pick them up. I would say you could always go whenever and start to look at dresses and prices. If you pick one, just wait a little longer before ordering them in case something new comes up.

Thanks for your reply Jen! How did this end up working out for you? Are/were your bridesmaids happy with the dresses? Are/were you?

Thanks so much Stephanie! That’s what I was kind of thinking in terms of a timeline. My wedding is September 21st, 2019; still lots of time but my bridesmaids are all over the province! Some of them are also full one students and have crazy work demands. I was even debating going in August to look before everyone starts back to school, but I wasn’t sure if this would be too soon or not.

Styles change, so I would recommend no more than a year in advance. They take about 3-4 months to come in. My bridesmaids went one month after I did, so about 8 months before the wedding.
