DIY or Buy? - Signage

Joey, on April 16, 2018 at 08:49 Posted in DIY 0 28

We want to know what wedding projects you're taking on by yourself, and which you are leaving up to the professionals.

When your guests read where to sit, what your signature drinks are, or what your hashtag is, will they be reading the info off signs you've written or signs your ordered?

The only signs we plan on having is for the guest table which I've been planning. Between the printing and our calligraphy practice, we'll have something really nice for it.

I don't think we are going to have any signs. We are probably going to skip it.

I did a little bit of both! I ran out of time to have my seating chart done by a calligrapher so I ended up DIY-ing. It took a loooooong time!

We're only having one or a few signs just outlining the day and that it's an unplugged ceremony and to sit where ever they want for the ceremony. And honestly it will be 100% easier for us to just buy them.

Diy and a mix of both. I think for liquor we will have a chalk board which my mother will write out, and my mother in law has a huge set up for vinyl lettering and has began teaching diy classes. She offered to do all of my signs free of charge and however I like ☺️

Ugh. I have no idea! I think a combination! I have a friend who can make vinyl letters and I will buy something to stick them onto!

As of right now I plan to DIY the signs. Going to buy some frames from the dollar store, spray paint them and then cut out the wording on vinyl. If I am running out of time I will probably just buy some pre made ones off etsy, they have so many cute ones! Although my seating chart I am leaving to a professional.

Ohhh pretty signs! I will definitely not be DIYing, as I’m not good at that sort of stuff, but I’m not so sure about what I want to do exactly

I've made my own signs though nothing too crazy.

One is on a mirror, and one is on a chalkboard. All our little signs I'm just printing like a photo at Walmart and putting in a frame.

They almost always do! Not even just Value Village, but really go to the old thrift stores, especially the hospice thrift stores, because they have lots of beautiful vintage items that grandparents held on to for decades.

I got two matching 4 foot tall ornate frames, for $8 (together), from Value Village. I'm going to spray them both metallic silver and turn them into my welcome sign and seating chart.

Those are great! I like the fonts you chose. I plan on doing the same thing but just using the mirrors or frames from dollar stores. I never thought to look to thrift stores. Maybe I'll see if they're a good deal at the local value village.

Making all my own signs. I buy mirrors and/or frames from thrift stores, re-finish the frames (usually metallic spray paints), then print vinyl lettering.

I've made them before for other brides, so I'm excited to make my own.

We'll probably rent them, or purchase signage online.

Designing / Printing and Finishing all by ourselves!

We're lucky to be quite handy in this department and it will save us a good chunk of money!

I purchased all my signage from various vendors on Etsy and then printed them myself and placed them in frames. They looked wonderful!

Most-likely we'll be purchasing this. We're seriously not handy enough to make this.

I will be making the signs. I hope this saves us some dollars as I've been looking at what people on etsy can charge. Beautiful work but my budget is limited.
