We're not doing cake, but if we were (and if I could actually eat it!) I would want buttercream icing! I used to work in a bakery and it tasted the best! You can be more creative with fondant, but I can't get over the taste of buttercream icing!

Please be aware that fondant will cost more and get gummy in the freezer when removing after a year. Buttercream still gave the clean look on our cake.

Two layers of our cake are going to be buttercream (so it looks rustic- top and bottom), our middle layer is going to be fondant but it will have gold detailing on the whole thing so you can't tell.

We're going fondant because it's giving us the look we want and won't melt

Agreed! Fondant is nasty! It might look cool, but I'd rather have something that tastes good so buttercream all the way!

Buttercream. I like the elegant look of it with flowers.

I love the look of fondant, but we chose buttercream as it tastes much better.

We had buttercream. I wanted fondant, but after seeing pictures of examples with buttercream, I liked the look better with the flowers we had on the cake.

We're doing pies. But if we were having a cake, I would 100% choose a naked cake.
