Black Tie or Cocktail Attire?

Lynnie, on July 22, 2019 at 07:05 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 27

What about your dress code? Are you going for a very formal vibe, or something a little more relaxed?

Hi Melissa. I'm in the same situation. My FH always wears a hat. Always. So when I posted a pic of him in his suit everyone, including Me was surprised to see him without it.

We are going formal. The wedding party will be in gowns and tux. Hopefully everyone else dresses formal as I know some will not want to be bothered.

Cocktail, though I'm not going to tell anyone what to wear (except maybe the bridal party :-p). I am encouraging ladies to bring a second set of shoes if they are planning to wear heels. Our ceremony venue is outside on a harbor boardwalk and I don't want anyone's heels getting stuck in between the planks....lol

Cocktail 100%. I'm wearing a simple wedding dress and my FH doesn't want to feel "stuffy". Plus if it's black tie I can't have my guests looking better then me lol

For the guests, it would be cocktail but for our wedding party, I think it would be closer to black tie.

I have told many people it is a very elegant setting and they should be in black tie attire, however literally no one in my family every dresses up for weddings which is so disappointing. I hope everyone looks really fancy, I would love that

Guests are in cocktail attire, but the wedding party is in full tuxes/floor length dresses so we're a little more formal Smiley winking

I would definitely love to do a black-tie affair, but I know some guests can't afford/be bothered to follow dress code - but it'd be hella glamorous!

Cocktail attire : It's just less complicated.

That being said, I would like to, one day, go to a black-tie event or wedding for the glamour of it all!

Definitely closer to cocktail. Honestly I've only seen FH in a suit once (in 5+ years), and the ongoing joke is that our wedding will be the first time any of our friends have seen him without a baseball cap on. I'm guessing most of our guests aren't expecting anything super formal.

    Cocktail attire ☺️
It’s not going to be too formal whatsoever (but fingers crossed no blue jeans or baseball caps).

Our's will be I guess on the formal side of cocktail. We don't have a dress code on the invites , but lets hope that no one shows up in jeans.

Cocktail attire will be just fine! A little bit worried about this with some guests but hopefully everyone respects the dress code.

We are closer to cocktail attire. The guys will be in suits instead of tuxedos, so I don't expect everyone to go overboard with their outfits. Just hoping that guests show up dressed up and not in jeans!

I guess closer to cocktail attire, I am not putting a dress code on the invitation but will assume that since it is a wedding that our guests will dress accordingly.

Probably more like cocktail attire. The lodge is a bit more rustic and we have such a small group, so it doesn’t need to be super formal.

Formal for the wedding party but the venue is more laid back and we encourage the guests to bring a pair of jeans to change into if they don't wanna wear their suits and dresses next to the bonfires Smiley smile

I mean, no dress code on the invite or anything but it is more of a formal affair.
