Are you inviting your officiant to the reception?

Lynnie, on November 4, 2019 at 09:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 25

Are you inviting your officiant to join you for the rest of the celebrations? Why or why not?? Are they already a friend or family member?

My officiant is more than welcome to join the reception.
She is actually my professor in the program that I am taking right now! She is an amazing lady!

TBD - but i don't think so.. our officiant is someone that we hired, not someone we knew

Yes. Our officiant was a friend of my husband so he was going to be invited whether he married us or not!

Don't know yet, but likely not. That'll be a question for the venue I think.

This is still up in the air, but I think we are both leaning towards no atm.

Will you verbally ask him or are you sending him an invite? We want to ask ours, but don't know how!

No, she is wonderful but not exactly a close family member or friend so we will do a little something to thank her on top of her fee

No, we are using one of the provinces' commissioners and it's a short and sweet ceremony

We did extend our invitation to the Officiant to attend the reception. He would have though there was another ceremony that was right after ours he had to perform.

Most likely not. By the time we get married we will have met her twice and spoken via email and phone a handful of times. It would just be a little awkward, if I was being married in a church by my priest I would extend the invitation.

I don't think we will, we're having a pretty long cocktail hour so we can sneak off for photos so there would be so much time in-between the ceremony and reception

Yes. Our officiant is a very close friend. We couldn’t see our day without her!

Yes. Our officiant is a coworker that I'm close with so I'll invite them and a few other co-workers so they aren't alone in a sea of strangers.

We're extending the invitation to him, but we don't really know the man. We're doing it out of politeness and the fact that without him there wouldn't have been a wedding in the first place. I don't expect him to accept, but it'll be there if he does want to

    No.
She made it pretty clear that she had other arrangements right after our ceremony. So she quickly thanked us, told us who had our wedding papers and left.

We will invite him to the reception out of courtesy and etiquette, but I'm not sure if he will attend

We extended the invitation to him and his wife but he declined as they had tickets to the Elton John concert a couple hours after our ceremony Smiley tongue

Not sure on this - our priest likely wouldn't come but we might send an invite out of respect.

I'll invite them to stay since wedding will lead directly into reception
