DO NOT have your wedding at La Casa Mirador!

I had my wedding at La Casa Mirador on May 28th, 2022. I am a bit late posting a review because I was emailing back and forth with Wendy and Dikran in hopes that there would be some sort of compensation for the horrible experience we had with La Casa, but no such luck!

La Casa is a self serve venue, but you pay for a wedding package which is supposed to include tables, table cloths, ballroom chairs, chair covers, cutlery, and plates. I prepared all of my rentals based on the fact that La Casa would be holding up their end of the contract with supplying these items.

To our shock and disgust, we opened up the table cloth bin and chair cover bins. There were only TWO round table cloths and we had 9 tables. We were short 7 table cloths. The chair coverings were absolutely disgusting, most ripped, wrinkled, and even covered in BLOOD. I was so upset because this was the Friday night and our wedding was the next day. We were not able to set up the night before in advance due to this.

We were trying to get ahold of the staff at La Casa in hopes that this bin of table cloths and chair coverings were supposed to belong in the garbage, and that they had the proper equipment somewhere else. They were able to find a second bin of less damaged chair coverings, but they still were not good quality. As for the chair coverings, we were SOL. I really do not know why they charge a wedding fee if they don't even hold up their end of the contract by providing what they say they will.

My wedding coordinator was able to call in some favours and get a rental store to rent us some table cloths last minute in Kelowna. Luckily she picked these up for us, otherwise that would have been another huge inconvenience the night before the wedding. This cost me an extra $400 in rentals just because La Casa did not provide what they said they would provide.

When speaking with the owner and manager, they tried to cast blame on the wedding coordinator saying she should have made a site visit in advance. She did in fact make a sight visit in advance, but the table cloths/chair coverings were not shown to her as no one could unlock the storage room.

Basically La Casa refused to compensate us any money for the extra rentals we had to get, and they also refused to give us a discount on the wedding package even though they did not have the proper supplies they claimed they would have.

None of the glasses were clean and prepped to use for the wedding. We were running dishloads and dishloads of glassware, cutlery, and plates the night before as well so that they were cleaned for the guests. I REALLY don't understand the point in La Casa's massive cleaning fee if you get there and have to clean everything yourself before it is in presentable condition.

Basically, although La Casa is located in a beautiful spot, the amount of stress and extra work you need to do on top of already having to worry about your wedding, I would NOT RECOMMEND LA CASA MIRADOR.

PLEASE save yourself the extra stress. They don't have any of the proper supplies, you will have to clean everything yourself, and if anything goes wrong, the staff will not help or compensate you for your troubles. Wendy, the owner, and Dikran, the manager, had no accountability and clearly do not know how to run a business.

Brides and Grooms, please BEWARE if you are considering this location. My wedding coordinator is also not recommending the venue anymore after our experience. Please save yourself the extra stress and money and steer clear of this venue for your wedding.

Regretfully,

Great Value

We had our wedding at La Casa Cottages in October of 2021 and we had a wonderful experience! The lead-up to the event was pretty stressful with unknowns from both Covid and the wildfires in August but the team at La Casa was super helpful the whole way through. I was very anxious and emotional in the weeks leading up to the wedding with so many unknowns out of our control and everyone I spoke to was always super kind, understanding, and helpful. I really appreciated the staff doing what they could to help calm my nerves even when things were out of their control as well.

I think they were fairly understaffed for our wedding weekend with it being off-season and still dealing with the fall-out from the fires but we honestly didn't mind - it felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves and we loved that!

We stayed at the Guest House with most of the wedding party while family and friends stayed in surrounding cottages. We held the ceremony at the Viewpoint and the reception partially on the Terrace and partially in the Grand Suite with the double-garage doors open. Initially we planned to host the reception in the Ballroom but due to Covid restrictions we couldn't make that work but we were so happy with how everything turned out - the Terrace is beautiful and we rented 4 patio heaters for when the sun went down and it worked out great. We set up a bar area outside and cleared a section of the Terrace to dance - this was awesome as everyone could be spaced out and dance outside if they were comfortable.

We loved being able to bring our own alcohol and do things our own way; this is a huge plus for this venue (at least for us!). We brought our own wine and several kegs, as well as made our own pre-mixed cocktails. Our bar set-up was very lowkey and we didn't hire any bartenders as everything was grab-and-go. It kept things casual (like us) and was a huge cost-saver!

The only downside we had was moving all of the furniture once we arrived and then again before we left - this is a very DIY venue and the price reflects that but it was a pretty big job to move all the Terrace/Grand Suite furniture out of the way to make room for our reception set up and then to switch it back again before we left. We would have been happy to pay extra for staff to take care of this for us :) luckily we had a huge team of generous wedding party members and family to help with this but it was a big job!

Amazing location with everything you need supplied.

Us and our immediate family stayed in the guest house. It was a bit messy when we arrived but nothing a quick mop job didnt fix. Other than that they were always quick to respond and supplied us with almost everything we needed for the ceremony and reception. Near the date of our wedding I was getting skeptical because of all the "fines" they told us about last minute like if the projector was messed with, the dishwasher wasnt ran, furniture got moved or our guests were noisy past 11pm but once we were there everything ran smoothly and I realized they were fines to easliy avoid. It is a beautiful location with everything you need, we will definitely be coming back!
